Goodies for tertiary institutions' newbies
This is a piece of advice to new intakes (freshers) in the tertiary institutions
- You may not be admitted into the course you chose, but create interest in the course given.
- As a new student irrespective of your age, accept the fact that you are a fresher that you need help.
- You have to believe in yourself.
- Find out your weak point in time and work on it as early as u can.
- As this is really a heavy decision to make, no need to rush into friends making. Choose friends carefully.
- See yourself as the best and work towards it.
- Be the type that make enquires, so enquire about the school and other things relating to it.
- Set the goals you want to achieve and the ambition you want to fulfil
- Start working towards fulfilling your goals
- Be distracted by no one, so as not to be derailed.
- No course is too simple nor too difficult, you just have to do extra work to be successful in it.
- Don't look down on yourself about first class, you can make it, it's for people like you.
- Life's all about risks, but take well calculated risks.
- Consistency in your study is an important thing.
- Nothing is easy in this life, so never give up.
- Try and get a good upline/mentor.
- Avoid relationship for now, it causes distraction as it is even too early.
- Equally avoid distractions from the other gender.
- Also, don't be distracted by the senior students.
- Don't make the mistake of waiting for exam timetable to come out before you start studying.
- Minimize your timing online, don't get too involved with social media.
- We learn new things everyday, don't forget that.
- Don't be the type that stab/skip classes, be prompt.
- In class don't be shy, ask questions but be modest.
- Get your mind and brain improved everyday, they can't be dormant.
- Study to understand things and not to pass only.
- Rule out a better time and environment for studying.
- Have a study timetable and follow it up in accordance.
- Upgrade your reading style, don't use the method of your previous school.
- Let your parents be proud of you.
- Associate yourself with people that will motivate, inspire you and also help to build you.
- And if they don't do so, motivate, inspire and build yourself.
- Be focused, don't blame anybody.
- Have leisure period, don't be too busy.
