Are Educational institutes involved in the biggest scam ever?
"Degrees don't matter anymore"
You may have already heard this sentence a lot of times till now. Although its right that without skills we cannot survive in the current market, specially if you are a recent Graduate like thousand others who have the similar degree as you and applying for the same job. But is it not your Teacher's job to train you for the relevant skills?
Is it worth the time and money?
Even after spending countless time and money and huge amount on student loans, you are not guaranteed a steady income, in some cases an entry level job, what was the point of all that? Education does open your mind and improve your understanding in vast subjects but is it all that you want from it?
Many Big names like Elon musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jack Ma Founder of AliBaba do not give much importance to fancy degrees but on individual skills. What made these many individuals think like that? Maybe because they know that a college degree with good grades wont guarantee you any kind of success. For most part it does not even teach us to overcome failure.
I have Learned more from experiences than i have from my degree
I got better understanding of Management by managing different events, not from many management courses and lectures that i had attended. Got better hold of Supply chain 101 by working at a SC Firm. Learned a lot more from practical udemy courses. I can go on and on. Same is the case with people i have interacted about this opinion of mine.
I AM NOT AGAINST EDUCATION AT ALL!
What i believe now that most of our Modern Education needs to be restructured. Most of invest a lot of our time and money without any guarantee of getting a return. We barely know about any of these Universities and Colleges bearing losses, in fact they are the most profitable business with minimum risk involved and enjoy many perks from the government as well. Learning should never ever stop at any point in life. We learn best when we are young so we should be taught the best at a young age.
Blockchain can certainly help education in many ways. When we allow site services such as Wikipedia and the likes to start an education program (and properly funded through blockchain methods) then we can start to create our own "smart degrees" or "Self-master level" within communities. This way competition will lead to people striving to keep on learning and how to share information while also getting rewarded to do so. We basically become our own teacher and student and school (depends on content) at the same time!
Absolutely, online education is the way ahead.
