Students worried about their professional future

While teenagers fear for their future, their parents feel that school does not prepare enough for a successful profession

Normally, teenagers have an anxious vision of the future. When they see my parents coming back at night, being tired, they have the impression that you always have to pay attention to everything in the professional environment, your attitude, what you say and so on…. All day they are told that life is becoming harder and harder and that you are always at risk of being unemployment
They see their parents stressed and forever complaining about their lives. That is why, they say, they do not have any desire to finish their studies and work. Even if they have plans, when they see on TV the problems of unemployment and discrimination in hiring, they panic for this uncertain future.

According to a study in France, The professional future is at the heart of the daily relationship between teenagers and adults. So much so that teenagers hope their tomorrows can be presented to them in a more positive way. They see society as a jungle and their parents are asking too much from them, often pushing them to realize their own ideas

And it is not the school that will fill the gaps. The school-enterprise connection advocated by the ministries of education is still in its infancy. Students will like more intervention from professionals in high school. According to this study, among 686 parents,, 67% of them believe that the education system does not prepare young people for the world of work, that the school does not develop enough the qualities that will be asked of them later in the year. Yet initiatives in this direction are multiplying.

In France, the internship in secondary and the option of professional discovery has been generalized and occupies three hours per week. Third-year students may even be exempted from classes every Monday afternoon to go to a company of their choice. Still, this option is not fair for everybody. It depends on the enthusiasm of the educational team who is not always very keen on the life of the company.

Apparently, what is needed is a large network of companies and the government enthusiasm to implement actions and build a strong bridge between schools and the world of work to redone hope in future.
