Cells that rule future medical industry

Absolute power always produces optimum results either in the positive or negative manner. As many of us know the cell is the basic structural unit of a living organism. Our survival hugely depends on the functioning of our cells. 

So coming to the topic, Stem cells are the one that possesses these absolute power and are going to revolutionize medical industry.

What actually are these stem cells?

Human birth doesn't take place in a single day, it all starts with a single cell. That single cell divides and shapes into a complete body. But the key thing to notice during this development is that there must be some intermediates that transform this single cells to different body parts.

These intermediates form heart, liver, kidneys, blood, bones, muscles and so on to make up the body. These intermediates act only once during the entire life as we don't get another heart once we lose it.

These intermediates are called as Stem Cells and they possess the superpower of forming our body.

How actually are they going to help us?

Imagine a person who has to get his heart transplanted because of heart failure, but donors are not available. In this case, he has no other option but to die.............But with the help of stem cells, a new heart can be created in the lab so that it can be fixed to him without the need of any donor.

Likewise,  liver, Kidney and many organ transplants can be done very easily.

These stem cells can be used to study different diseases. For example to study Parkinson's disease scientists need to isolate brain cells from a diseased person. Isolation of brain cells would lead to death. So artificially Brain is synthesized using stem cells and made to get Parkinson's disease. Then the scientists can study the disease characteristics.

Many diseases can be cured and we can just change defected parts of our body just like we change defected parts of our vehicle.

But the main challenge is that stem cells in humans are produced during embryo, to study we need to isolate them. Isolation is nothing but preventing the birth of a baby, killing baby is against ethics so scientists are creating them artificially in the laboratory.

The exact method to make use of stem cells are not yet formed and research is still going on....

Availability of treatment doesn't mean that we should get diseases.  Prevention is always better than cure, take healthy food and stay away from diseases :)
