Photosynthesis featuring Light Reaction
Each organism has their own trait and characteristic from the ability to produce, to sense danger and even the ability to have nutrition. Each trait makes every organism different from another. One of the amazing wonders of nature is how plants sustain living.
Plants are heterotrophic in nature. This means that they have the ability to create their own food to support survival. The process behind this wonder that plants do is photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis is a complex process as to how plants produce their own food for nutrition. Photosynthesis follows two processes: light and dark reaction. The first to be done is the light reaction.
In the light reaction, water and sunlight are two raw materials needed to produce glucose and is to be done in the thylakoid space. In this manner, as sunlight strikes the space, photoactivation will take place. It is when electrons are activated to go to photosystem I. Another thing to occur is hydrolysis thru photolysis. As water enters the thylakoid space, light decomposes water into hydrogen and oxygen resulting to hydrolysis. Then, the materials flood up resulting to the leakage of hydrogen to the stroma. Oxygen will be a byproduct in the said process. As hydrogen swims in the stroma, NADPH (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phoshate) and ATP (adenosine triphosphate) will be created as a result of hydrogen addition. And tht is how light reaction happens.
