WHEN LEARNING BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT...
Education they say is the best legacy. But tell me. What is education when the environment is not conducive for learning? How can kids be made to value education when they sit on stones to learn. Others who couldn't get a chance to sit on stones have to sit on the dusty floor. How can school be fun when kids have got no shelter or roof over their head during the raining seasons? No warmth whatsoever. This is the case of a school in my locality here at Nasarawa State where I'm undergoing the mandatory one year national service program (NYSC) as part of my duty to my father land.
This school is in a pitiable state. I'm concerned but I can't help all by myself because I'm not empowered financially to do this. You may have had life on better terms, attended the best school in town, had books when you needed them, good uniforms on your back, sandals on your feet and lots more just to make the journey easier. There's a saying that goes "Education is the most powerful weapon with which you change the future". The future of the world is in these children. Let's give them an opportunity to have access to education in a better learning environment. This is my appeal to everyone on steemit. To everyone in @wafrica community. To @dimimp and every philanthropist here.
We live in a society where our cries to the government have gone to deaf ears. I dare to say that the answers we seek isn't in the hands of the government but within us. Yes if we all can do little, then we can all do much. I'm working together with @lordjames and @rankyb for this project. All the proceeds from this post is going into this project. Let's make it big. Together we can.
The Plan
Donate 50-100 desks to the school.
Floor the classrooms with cement to keep away the dust
Use ply wood or zinc round the classes and to partition the classrooms
Put Blocks round the classes to keep water from flooding the classes when it rains.
How can you help?
I and @lordjames have done some survey and came up with something around 1000 Steem considering the present price of steem, to give this school the least support we can.
You can support by donation of Steem/Sbd.
If you do not have Steem/sbd, you can take the images from this post and make your own post as a support for this project. Then send in the payout from that post to us for this project.
A verse of Michael Jackson's song titled "Heal the world" reads
If you want to know why
There's love that cannot lie
Love is strong
It only cares of joyful giving
If we try we shall see
In this bliss we cannot feel Fear of dread We stop existing and start living
Let's make the world a better place for these kids. Let's not preach love in words only. Let's demonstrate it in practical ways.
Whaooooo, this is a nice project that I wish dimimp to see, he like seeing things like this.
Appalling state of a school with a profile on the government desk. We really need to help this project so, future of these kids may not be thwarted. Nice evangelism @joyce-opkobo
