Teachers- How Important Are They In Our Life?

in #education7 years ago (edited)

Do you have a family member or a friend who is a teacher? Do you remember your teacher who you really admired for having a great teaching strategy? If yes, then, why such?

A good teacher isn't just a profession. It not all about teaching what they have learned from their professors. Rather, a good teacher instill confidence and makes learning a fascinating challenge. William Ayers book, To Teach- The Journey of a Teacher, explains how a teacher leave an impact, it says: "Good teaching requires most of all a thoughtful, caring teaching committed to the lives of students. . . Good teaching is not a matter of specific tecniques or styles, plans, or actions. . . Teaching is primarily a matter of love." To identify who's the successful teacher he says: "The teacher who touched your heart, the teacher who understands or who cared about their student as a person for something".

So teachers deserves commendation and appreciation from students, and as well as from parents, that they may be encouraged to continue to embrace teaching not only because it is their chosen profession but more being their passion to teach, in spite of all setbacks. And thus, parents should be cooperative, considerate and kind to the teachers of their children, understanding fully the situation they are in with numbers of students around. They should be given respect they deserve and should be look up for the efforts they extends, and for exchanging the moments for their family and for themselves just for their students.

Of course, not all teachers take such a possitive approach. Then, too, teachers are often subject to many pressures that curtail what they can do for their students. They are even blamed for some mistakes their students commit inside the classroom or campus. They are also sometimes subject for corrections when parents/ people think they missed to apply proper rullings and strategies in their teaching. We symphatized with them and lead to ask this question, "Why do people go into such a difficult profession?"

Although teaching may look so easy, but the reality is, such profession can be a marathon of hurdles- coping with oversize classes, excessive paper works, over bearing bureaucracy, unresponsive students, inadequate pay, parental indifferences and lack of supports from parents, inferior classroom conditions and environmental adjustments on their work place. And why, then, in spite of difficulties and drawbacks, so many people choose to be a teacher and pursue this career? How do teachers handle the challenges?

In spite of all the challenges, setbacks, and hardships, millions of teachers continue to persevere in their teaching profession. And thousands of students strive to qualify to be teachers eventhough they obviously know that they may not receive adequate recognition.

As a student or parent, have you ever thank a teacher for their time, effort and interest shown? Teachers lay the essential foundation for a person's education. Engineers, lawyers, doctors, all professions, and even the best professors at the most prestigious universities are indebted to teachers who took time and effort to mold and cultivate their desire for education, knowledge and understanding.

To summarize all these, we should be grateful to those men and women who provoke our curiosity, who showed us how to satisfy our thirst for knowledge and understanding.

How much more we should be grateful to the Great Educator, the Almighty Father Jehovah God (Psalms 83:18), who inspired the words of Proverbs 2:1-6 "My son, if you will receive my sayings and treasure up my own commandments with yourself, so as to pay attention to wisdom with your ear, that you may incline your heart to discernment; if, moreover, you call out for understanding itself and you give forth your voice for discernment itself, if you keep seeking for it as for silver, and as for hid treasures you keep searching for it, in that case you will understand the fear of Jehovah, and you will find the very knowledge of God. For Jehovah himself gives wisdom; out of his mouth there are knowledge and discernment." Heartily acceptance is our key. Imagine if we are willing to accept that challenge, we can "find the very knowledge of God"! That surely the greatest education of all.

To all my teachers from elementary, high school & college, I want to say thank you very much to all of you.

I have great regards for teachers because I know I can never be one

you're right maam. every woman can be a mother but not all of us can be a good teacher. their patience is incomparable, it is sometimes irritating having 5 kids in a room, but teachers can handle it very well.

You're totally right, teachers play a huge role in our society. It's a shame they're underestimated and have to work so hard for a tiny salary. The amount of effort they input is uncomparable to what they get in return. I hope things will change in the future and teachers will be more valuable.

even in my country teachers are sometimes underestimated, they are often referred to as "just teachers", not trying to know how their life inside their classroom, after their classes, and even spend sleepless nights preparing all the materials for their next day class. Teachers deserve recognition to uplift their esteem. Hope many will realize this.
