RE: Myths Of Opportunity

in #education5 years ago

Education doesn't really guarantee you much of anything. I have a "fine" college degree that has been meaningful precisely twice in my life: To apply for two jobs where "bachelor's degree" was a required qualification, but neither of those two jobs bore any relation to what my degree was actually for.

As far as I can tell, having a college education is basically (to use blockchain terms) "proof of ability to stick to something for four years and showing up in required places on time."

I also have a degree in marketing and I realized it was useless the moment I got a job in marketing lol! What I did learn on the job though was helpful enough to get me further in my career, like why can’t I just skip proof of studies and go straight to the working world if I’m competent?

Why the need for all these filters? Surely the interview process should be improved instead of creating these convoluted hoops to jump through to prove you’re willing and able
