Join Signum University for a Fun Webathon This Saturday – Trivia, Giveaways & More
This Saturday, Oct. 14, Signum University is holding its annual fall webathon. For those who have participated in the past, you know that this all-day event is full of fun and informative segments, including trivia, giveaways, and a showcase of the various programs and courses offered by the university.
This event comes at the end of the university's annual fall fundraising campaign. As with previous years, this year's campaign began on September 22 – also known as Hobbit Day – with a kickoff event led by The Tolkien Professor (Dr. Corey Olsen) in which he read several passages from the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and discussed their significance. All campaign events are recorded and shared for free on the Signum University YouTube Channel.

About Signum University
Signum University is an online, non-profit educational institution dedicated to building an accessible and affordable digital campus that allows open learning opportunities for everyone. The whole premise behind the University is to give away as much as possible for free, and then to charge as little as possible for the rest. This has allowed the University to develop hundreds of hours of free educational programming, as well as a Master of Arts in Language & Literature program that costs many thousands of dollars less than a comparable program at a brick-and-mortar school.
I myself graduated from the MA program this past summer at ceremony held during the University's Mythmoot IV conference. It's one of the best things I've done, and I'm glad to be able to help Signum out by sharing information about their webathon and continuing to work with them into the future. (Note that I am a volunteer and do not receive compensation from the University for this or any of the other help I give them. In fact, I am also a donor.)
The University's primary focus is speculative literature, which includes fantasy, science fiction, mythology, folklore, and other imaginative storytelling. However, the University also offers courses in language learning, philology, and classical literature as well.
Come Join Us!
I plan to attend most (if not all) of the webathon on Saturday, and I would love to see some of my Steemit friends and followers there! The best way to join is through the University's Twitch Channel at Twitch.tv/SignumU. See you then!
