Peanut (Arachis Hypogaea) is a leguminous plant that grows in tropical and subtropical climates. The plant is thought to have originated from South America, between Brazil and Peru, before being propagated by European explorers to North America, Asia, and Africa.

Currently there are five largest peanut producing countries in the world namely China, India, United States, Nigeria, and Indonesia. Within a year, peanuts produced by farmers around the world reached 29 million metric tons.

Amazingly, peanuts are not just delicious to eat. All parts of this plant have economic value. Peanut skin for example, can be used as animal feed, processed into particle board and converted into fuel and other needs. Peanut shells also contain high protein and become nutritious feed for horses and other farm animals.
