RE: Gear post: Spyglass
Funny story about that original reason... a friend and I were standing at the front door of the shop I worked in and were girl-watching. I was admiring one who was heading across the street in our direction. But once she got closer I discovered she wasn't attractive at all. (I know, I was callous and sexist) Anyway, I decided then and there I needed a spyglass so I could see better at a distance (I've always had bad eyesight).
When I first got the spyglass I did lubricate it. And that made a big mess. I finally realized if I keep it clean the brass is kind of self-lubricating. But sometimes I still have to wipe it down to get rid of some residue from my ill-informed lube job.
I'll go do some weight comparison to see how much my EDC weighs... BRB...
Looks like 17 pounds altogether, but that includes my belt and vest which I didn't unload.
I'm used to it and never notice it.
Too funny haha. Thankfully my eyesight isn't too bad, but I do wear contacts sometimes. That makes sense with the lubrication. I have never owned a spy glass, but it looks pretty damn cool but figured maintenance would be involved.
17 lbs isn't that bad. It probably builds some strength too carrying that around and shouldn't give you issues as long as its distributed properly. Thanks for answering my questions :)
That also didn't include the chunk of 1911 steel. ;)
That's a must!
