ECTOPIC PREGNANCY, IGNORANCE IS NOT AN EXCUSE !
An event that took place yesterday at the hospital left me speechless and taught me more lessons. I stood still for minutes and saw tears roll down my cheeks.A promising life lost carelessly!
A Lady reported to the hospital with history of stomach upset and pain during evening shift, doctor on duty diagnosed GASTROENTERITIS. After every intervention the pain grew more intense over the night; towards morning time, the doctor on call suspected Ectopic Pregnancy! Demanded for a scan to be conducted and the young lady was rushed to the theatre lifeless even be4 the scan was out, alas!! It was a Ruptured Ectopic Pregnancy.Blood already filled up in the abdominal cavity!
Doctors tried to save her but she was gone, that was how a young very pretty Lady of 28-29yrs lost her life leaving behind a son who's around 1yr &2months old,her husband who was hitting his head crying like a baby, her mum who was crying &,rolling on the floor that she; her younger sister who was dragging, hitting the dead body to wake up amidst loud cries! It was pathetic, there's nothing in this life. This was a lady who went to work the previous day, walked into the hospital and left dead! She conceived and was happy, atleast her 2nd baby on de way but just two months into the pregnancy she's dead due to improper implantation!
MY ADVICE:- Once you notice implantation (missed ur period ) as a woman and a positive pregnancy test to confirm your suspicion; pls do go for a scan immediately, or atleast before 6weeks to be sure the fetus is well implanted in the uterus becos any implantation outside the uterus e.g fallopian tubes, which is very dangerous/life threatening! Most of them come with no signs and symptoms until there's rupturing due to inability of the fallopian tube to contain the growing fetus(embryo) though there are many sites for this improper implantation, fallopian tube is the most common site for this wrong implantation/Ectopic pregnancy. The surgery at this point of rupturing is a 50-50 chance of survival!
Do not wait till 6-7 months before you do your 1st scan, do it as soon as possible once there's confirmed diagnosis of pregnancy, a day could save your life or that of your relatives'. The death of the young lady yesterday would hv been prevented, it was a painful death. Ectopic pregnancy has taken many young women to their early graves.
Don't wait to be a victim or say you're not planning to be pregnant again, pass this information to your friends /well wishers. It could save a life!
