I hear, feel and get you, you lovely mama! Your post got me thinking hard and made me think of sooo many things that I have forgotten a lot of them by the time I finished the post. I like how you compared patriarchal and matriarchal societies and weighed the features of one against the other. Yes, like you said and like @hopehuggs described in hr post, matriarchal does have to do with being a mother and a mother knows how to love, care for and support her kids so yeah a matriarchal society would not be controlling at all and would have place and love for everyone.
