I Have a similar set up with 5 x 100AmpHr batteries and 300 watts of panels.... I too have to change my batteries around the 4-5 year mark.
I agree, i also went with the cheaper batteries with a 5 year rotation as apposed to the more expensive batteries which can fail just as quickly but be more expensive..
For the washing maching = i have a standard 1750 watt maching, but reduced this to around the 600-700w mark by disconnecting the heatin element and filling it with hot water on startup.
great minds think alike! yes i stick the solar hot shower head into the washing machine if i want a 70 degree! thanks for sharing!
