RE: Are You respecting Your Elders? Does the saying "You should respect your elders" still hold true today?

U covered alot here and alot makes sense. The first point about technology I just want to add that I've seen parents shove the ipad onto the baby, it's like they prefer their kids to shut up and be engaged with the tech instead of being active with the child. It's quite sad and no wonder they have more connection to these things than physical interaction

@celestialcow, its really sad that parents are helping to widen the rift between themselves and their children. One thing i have done is to teach my kids how to use technology with moderation and spend more of their time doing arts and crafts, creative works and gardening so that they can better connect with me and the environment.

Technology by itself is neither good not bad. I think if applied properly it can bridge the gap between generations. For example, as I was helping my dad one time to make his computer faster by cleaning up the cache, etc. he told me how he had helped my grandpa configure his stereo (record player, tape-deck, etc.) which he was overwhelmed with, although he loved the music. It all depends on how you apply it.

I agree. Wise use is the most important!

So many adults dont know how to put their devices down. This is why im so adamant about allowing kids to learn to self regulate as kids. Thats a sweet story about your dad and grandpa, btw. I remember programming the vcr for my parents when i was little.
