Fairness is better than Charity
In lack of posting something of mindful content, I'll share a quote of a book I just read by anthropologist Jason Hickel.
"The amount that the global South spends collectivley on debt service each year vastly outstrips the amount that the UN tells us is necessary to eradicate poverty entirley; you could cancel all debt payments and cancel global poverty in the same swoop if you could master the political will." p.177
This summarizes more or less the problematics of development aid and poverty reduction that Hickel is addressing in his new book "The Divide: A Brief Guide to Global Inequality and it's Solutions".
I'll add some interviews to give the whole recommendation more context.
