Welcome to the weekly "Sustainable News". There is a lot being done by countries, corporations and individuals to help our planet and change our behavior.

This Blog post aim to get you up to date with the new initatives !

** Things are moving fast and our planet says: "THANK YOU !"**

Sustainable Finance

Farouk Bastaki, the head of the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), the world’s oldest sovereign wealth fund, chose to talk about the global need for Kuwait to reduce its carbon footprint at a recent dinner in New York, mentioning the One Planet working group of sovereign wealth funds, showcasing how concern over climate change has become a big integral part of today’s investment landscape. The KIA has derived the majority of its c. US$600bn under management from Kuwait’s oil revenues.

Sustainable Solutions – Agricultural technology:

The Norwegian salmon farmer Mowi reported a record high Q3 turnover, with harvest volumes at an all-time high, although increased farming costs due to biological incidents and a downturn in the net fair value adjustment on biomass too earnings into the negative.

Sustainable Solutions – Plastics:

Online fashion retailer Zalando announced plans to cut its emissions of carbon dioxide, eliminate single-use plastics in packaging and make its Zign private label more sustainable by 2023. According to the global charity Oxfam, the fashion industry is responsible for c. 10% of all GHG emissions and has been criticised for fuelling a throwaway culture.

As part of its first annual review, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation is asking the signatories of their New Plastics Economy project to pledge to go a step further than upping the amount of recycled content and cutting down on single-use plastics by actually reducing the amount of virgin plastic uses.

Sustainable Solutions – Renewables:

Germany is headed for the second consecutive year of substantially reducing its GHG emissions, due to a sharp decline in coal consumption driving a decline in the overall energy use of the country in 2019. This trend could bring Germany much closer to achieving its 2020 climate target.

Sort:

Awesome news about cutting plastic footprint in the fashion industry. The fashion industry is first of all a big problem to the environment and so its important for companies to recognize that problem and take action.

Indeed, and corporates are thinking about it !

We either live to eat or feed well to live. A healthy diet promotes healthy living.
The sustainable Agriculture is a captivating one and i wish it for other countries.
Congratulations to the Norwegians
