How to Color Easter Egg with Natural Color - Boiled Onion Skins
Ancient tradition for Easter celebration includes egg coloring. They are used for Funny Easter Games - egg battles, rolling down of hill, tree decoration etc. It is just a funny thing to do together with kids in these holidays.
Peel the onion skins and boil them, to extract the color in the water. Leave them for some hours, better overnight.
Choose brown or white eggs, just note brown egg will turn out darker then white eggs.
Choose some fresh greenery from you backyard, first spring flowers. You need also small cotton clothes, old nylon or even fresh wipes could be used for wrapping.
Wrap the plants around the egg, you can rinse it with water to make this process easier.
If there is still no any greenery outside in a backyard, you can use rice grains.
Wrap the cloth around and fix it with yarn.
Put them in a onion skin water.
Add a salt to avoid egg cracking and grave the eggs deeper in onion skins.
Boil them as you usually boil the eggs on your taste 2-8 minutes.
When you finish the boiling you can leave them for some time in a water to get darker color, just note that egg yolk can turn grey, if it will be too long in hot water.
Cool them down in cold water.
Open up and clean off the plants.
