The Wonderful Things We Do!

in #earthtribe5 years ago (edited)

One could easily get overwhelmed by everything that is currently happening in the world. To bare witness to all the destruction that humankind is doing on the earth. The media is constantly bombarding us with statistics , with images all making us feel hopeless about humanity and our time here on the the planet. In the end making us humans come across as parasites.

But what about all the wonderful things that us human folk do. We really don't hear enough about that, about how creative we can be , about how much time and energy some of us put into being of service to the earth. That is what I like to read about and it is something that I would like to share with you all on here.

To share the work of others, that create, that heal and that lift us up. Reminding us all of the human potential and what we can each achieve if we really want to.

First up is James Brunt, an artist who likes to create beautiful natural patterns out of natural materials. Rocks, sticks, leaves whatever he finds in the area he wishes to express his creativity. He is an artist, that has this wonderful ability to add to the beauty that already exists in nature.

I really love that creates his art and then leaves it for others to find and for nature to reclaim. He follows his own code which includes never taking rocks away with him and when working in forests he only creates on pathways as he does not like to disturb any undergrowth or animal habitats. His art reminds us of the positive impact we can have on the earth.

Pat Smith, a 70 year old woman who lives in Cornwall, decided to act after watching a documentary about the amount of plastic that ends up in the ocean. She made the decision to begin cleaning up one beach every week. She soon got other people involved, including some of her family and at the end of last year she had cleaned 52 beaches.

On top of that she has also started the Final Straw initiative in 20i7 which aims to bring awareness to the amount of damage that single use plastics are having in the world and especially in our oceans. This is their mission statement:

Our mission is to engage businesses and individuals to reduce consumption of single-use plastics and help protect our planet. We believe small actions from committed individuals will generate positive impact that we can communicate to key decision makers to bring about change.

Till next time be inspired to create and find more ways in which you can be of service to the earth!

It’s so true. We humans are more parts gods than demons, IMHO. And we get more of what we focus on.
