Striving to improve outcomes and decrease costs

Many technologies that are fueling IOT will also be fueling neuroscience. Among the biggest promise of IOT would be personalized medicine, with extensive records of patients, and utilization of AI alongside physicians in treating future issues. We think IOT would one day mend the skyrocketing costs of health care. This isn't an article about future of IOT, so we would not elaborate on that here but we would pen bout it soon too.

Coming to what IOT is doing at the moment, let's explain how it works. IoT is linking physical devices, buildings, and sensors to have data and control them remotely; generating more opportunities for direct integration of the physical world with computer-based systems for superior efficiency, accuracy and financial benefit.

We mentioned about Deep brain stimulation, a procedure where an electrode is implanted in the brain. The surgery has its own side-effects. Patient with diplopia begin seeing the world in double. So, the patients sometimes believe that they are possibly drunk after the surgery! With long distance control of those electrodes, in part possible with the development of technologies which are broadly lumped as IOT, one can make the side-effects less severe. There is also another problem that IoT can fix: sometimes the calcification of implants takes place, a problem that may be monitored and controlled by sensors which dissolve with time.

Our own group is attempting to pioneer dynamic monitoring of mental health statistics and compare it with awareness. We are measuring awareness in the form of social media chatter, news reporting, TV coverage etc... We hope such pipelines would radically change the way governments approach mental health or health generally.

In Striving to improve outcomes and decrease costs, health care providers have struggled with several nagging problems-- most notably, their interactions with their patients are sporadic, giving them little insight to the daily decisions and activities which have an enormous impact on patient health. Providers could be much more effective in encouraging their patients' health if it was easy, or even automatic, for information and feedback to flow between patients, providers, and caregivers.

Another question that’s being raised repeatedly is the security of the data of patients saved by IOT devices. Organizations need to accommodate themselves to the IOT revolution and avoid leaks that occur. People are wary of the information being saved that could be used by hackers for identity theft or blackmail and often oppose this storage. Huge amounts of data collected made possible by IoT could potentially open medical devices to more upsetting aims like interfering with functions. He contended that hackers could do something on a larger scale. This is scary and has to be dealt with. IOT is the future but we have to look at hacker and privacy proofing this through protocols such as Dxchain.

An Increasing Number of mental Disorders can be cured or at least detected by IOT. More and more lives can be saved and those that are affected can live independent lives. As Geoffrey Ling says, the future of IOT and neuroscience is bright. With smart believing we believe it would be bright enough to eclipse its own shortcomings!

H-IoT has already been playing a growing and significant role in health management in both the health and social care setting. It provides numerous benefits to citizens, health and care professionals and facilities. In combination with its numerous applications and advantages of H-IoT, adoption by medical and social care institutions is increasing.

Sensitivity of data sharing and the threat of cyber-attacks is, however, a real concern for healthcare providers, industry and the public. Patient data and trust should not be compromised.
