While DXchain provides the raw fundamentals of a smart city via proper data storage and data processing, it’s just one layer of many in a smart city system. Each layer has it’s own unique purpose but they’re all paramount to the existence of the other.

For instance, technology that goes into creating a smart city is the data and processing of the data that produces those insights. To make this economically feasible, the city itself has to be entirely capable of creating these solutions on their own. So while DXchain provides the backbone necessary for adoption, initiatives must be taken. More importantly to get this to operate at scale, government leaders need to create sustainable policies for IOT integration. Furthermore establishing partnerships with the private sector will be critical in deploying a proper “smart city”.

A new type of construction will need to occur in order for a smart city to unravel correctly. By correctly combining new ideas, technology, user adoption, strategy, and the people that tie them all together is what it will take for effective deployment. This is new unmarked territory and it will take perseverance from its participants in order to succeed. There will be hardships but in the end it will all be worth it for a more efficient and effective future.

First is the need to break existing silos and to construct new ones. In order to create a functioning smart city, it needs it’s citizens to combine efforts from it’s citizens, processes and technologies and they must all operate in unison to succeed. From everyone from the top level of the government down to it’s children, everyone must participate.

Second, it’s quite important to focus on specific results that you can measure, instead of focusing on a vague goal, start with measurable targets and track progress over time. This is the base to good leadership when deploying a smart city and how to keep it’s residents on track and on the goal when it comes to an important issue such as traffic reduction.

Third is to engage Key Opinion Leaders in the space. The only way to get mass adoption is to get the individuals that are currently deemed the leaders to create an influence over its’ citizens, therefore creating media campaigns will be extremely important to bolstering new ideas.

Fourth point is to take those Key Opinion leaders and to create alliances. Taking both policy and their partnerships and combining them into one collective force is what’s needed in order to amplify it’s efforts, everything must be a concerted effort, not a fragmented one.

Data is the most important resource in a smart city. Taking this generated data and making it open source will be very important, the more data the more likely to generate useful insights, so it’s very important that the data remains an open source resource for all of it’s citizens to access. Full Transparency and low latency access will be the drivers for success in the long run.
