We had defeated the Shambling Mound, we didn't even have time to check our gear or tend to our wounds before the next horror had started. As soon as the beast had drawn its last shuddering breath the house started to violently shake. We didn't know what was going on but all we knew was that it was nothing good was happening. We immediately collected our gear and weapons and started to head out as fast as we could.

The cat ran off ahead to see if he could find a faster way out while the rest of us made our way out of the alter chamber and headed back up the stairs. We barely made it to the top of the stairs when the cat came back saying he found a secret doorway with a ladder that led up to the sitting room in the main floor. We all headed to the ladder and made our way up. We found ourselves in the sitting room just as the cat had said except it was filled with a toxic smoke that burned our lungs and eyes.

The cat was the first one up while the rest of us followed. As soon as I reached the top of the stairs I saw the cat head through the doorway and as soon as he was in the threshold blades came spiraling down cutting multiple gashes as he dove attempting to avoid them. I ran to the doorway to check on the cat just to see him pick himself up, blood pouring from multiple wounds and dash up the stairs. Where the cat was going who know all I knew was that I had to get out of there and find a way to stop what was happening.

I jumped through the door narrowly avoiding the blades as they came slashing past me. I headed for the exit and saw that there were blades there as well. I tried to jump through and dodge those as well but as I was halfway through one managed to clip my shoulder leaving a deep bleeding wound. As soon as I made it out of the house I turned around to make sure that the rest were following but no one had made it out yet. Just as I was about to give up hope I saw Gorza appear at the doorway with the cat over her shoulder and a sack over flowing with black armor.

They were both badly wounded and I knew that they wouldn't be able to make it past the blades in that state. I shouted at them to hold on and started blasting at the blades with acid. At first it didn't seem that nothing was happening then one of the blades crumbled. I renewed my assault on the blades and first one then the last remaining blade crumbled, worn away by the acid. Gorza then came stumbling out barely able to walk let alone carry the cat and his loot. I went over and helped them make it to the street where we all collapsed barely able to stand.

I checked and treated the worst of their wounds and then fixed the gash on my shoulder. Then we noticed that we were still missing Lyrudar and Gorza. Just as I was about to head back in and go find them Lyrudar came stumbling out of the house hacking and coughing from the toxic smoke. As soon as Lyrudar stepped out of the house the shaking stopped and the smoke just seemed to magically disappear. I looked back at the group in amazement and that's when we realized that Iliad was missing and had never made it out of the house.

I headed back into that house of death, noticing that the doorways were no longer trying to kill us and that the smoke was completely gone. The house looked exactly the same as when we first entered this house just the other day. The rest of the party came into the house behind me once I gave them the all clear. We started shouting for Iliad but got no response, I headed back into the sitting room that we had escaped room and that's where I found him. Iliads lifeless body there on the ground with claw marks on the wall. It looked like he got turned around with all the smoke and tried to tear his way through the wall but was unable to before he choked to death in the smoke. I felt bad for the guy, it had to be a horrible way to go.

We covered him with a curtain and made sure that he was laid with his weapons. We then headed out of the house to get out bearings and figure out where we were. When we stepped out of the house we realized that the fog was gone. The street was clear, there were no other houses as we had thought before. We were on a dirt road with a forest all around us, the Death House being the only building around. That's when Lyrudar motioned us over and told us that we were not alone.....

I spent so much time on that character too :( Damn Iliad, he was fun while he lasted.
