Chicken Eggs vs. Duck Eggs
I have been reading and looking around at different comments and articles about the 2 and determine which would be better in what I have planned for my adventure, and I still have not come to a conclusion, I am leaning towards towards ducks for the eggs as I have read some good things about them but at the same time the idea of the unknown leans me towards chicken eggs, so where does this choice lead me to
Chicken Eggs
shown here is the general color and size of the eggs I would be getting from the chickens .
Duck Eggs
shown here are the general color and size of the eggs I would be getting from Ducks.
Some comparisons
So in comparison you can see I would get more benefit from the duck eggs.
there really doesnt appear to have much cost differences between the 2 for the laying birds.
I would like to get feed back from those of you that have one or the other or both, and how you feel about each or both,
these pictures ARE NOT mine and used for reference only

I have 5 chickens, all different breeds, and they produce about 28 eggs a week for me total. I am in the process of building a small pond for 2 ducks because imo duck eggs are tastier. They are way more rich in flavor, some people actually don't like them because they are so thick and rich. But I love them! The duck eggs are bigger for sure, but I would definitely look into different breeds of birds to see what they have to offer vs. what you're expectations are.
thanks for reply and input
Wow 28 eggs! So..do the ducks take more effort to take care of? Seeing that you need to build them a pond?
Well ducks need a water source, more than just the small water bowl I have for my chickens. I could probably just get by with a kiddie pool, but I like the added benefit of the beautifulness of a cascading waterfall into a small pond with ducks chilling. As for every day care, I wouldn't say either are more or less work. If you have a pond already on your property they will go there and return to the coop at night if you train them right.

Sounds like a pretty sight. Good luck on that project.😉 hope it turns out well and the ducks like it.lucky ducks.
I have seen that @pappa-pepper has just posted yesterday about having both chicken and ducks. Post name is "THE GIFT THAT (HOPEFULLY) KEEPS ON GIVING".
Maybe he can help clear some things up??
Upvoted and followed :)
I find I like duck egg weird tasting because I'm used to store bought chicken eggs. My dad has a few chickens and I think the only difference by organically farmed and store bought is the color.
thanks for your reply
consider quail...and emu.
quail is a little too small, and emu are CRAZY hahahaha
emu are stoopid..but they live for a long time
.
my son has a few...one egg feeds his whole small family for a meal...rather tasty too
quail....
and here
I think quail eggs are best. Very small but packed with lots of nutrients. Rather expensive locally (Philippines).
Which one is better chicken or duck?
My favorite kind of post. Highly informative, Highly useful and Visually pleasing to boot. Thank you.
