What Is Living, Breathing Content? | D.Update EP. 51
Every now and then I like to challenge my creativity.
As much as those questions help out a whole lot, they also often lead to an inner search that is... sometimes a bit confusing at first.
Today I asked myself an important question - that being: "how do I make my content a living, breathing component of who I am?"
When I ask this question, I envision myself effortlessly creating content that is very real and true to me.
Content that is connected to my interests, my thoughts, my life, my dreams... and thus content that is easy to extract from my mind and share.
I guess the truth is, sometimes I feel a gap between that content, and who I am.
That could be because who I am is always changing...
Or maybe it's because the community is changing...
Or quite possibly, it's a bit of the both.
Don't think I've been doing it long enough to say with confidence that I've hit the point of living breathing content yet, but there have been a couple of times when a post has just kind of fallen together and steamed from my fingers with hardly any effort from me. And the times when I've done that have been the times when I've been super immersed in creating and have perhaps even already written a post or a story or something else that day. In fact I'd say most ideas come to me AFTER I've already been immersed in creation for a while. It's almost like finding the flow state, and that's when it becomes as natural as breathing. So yes, I think doing it every day is important, but so is the length of time you spend on it each day. (for me anyway) Did you ever watch the movie Howl? There's a point where he says something about writing all day and how you get into it so that it becomes a natural state. Maybe it's the same with creating video? Although I guess the energy expenditure is kind of different...
I've definitely experienced a similar feeling, especially when it comes to editing. That creative flow state is my favorite by far!
I have not seen Howl but sounds like an interesting movie! I'll have to check it out... but yes... I very much agree. Anything can become a flow state when you tap into that infinite creative space.
Doing it consistency is another challenge in itself though :P
Keep doing what you're doing. I've only seen a couple of your videos so far, but I'd be interested to see where you're living and what's the social situation and atmosphere there.
I like that you can talk good and be authentic. Those are things I need to work on. Yeah, your talk on the livestream made me realize how hard it is for me to be really authentic.
Hey @srangel I'm actual from Austin, TX - music capital of the world. You'd probably dig this space. I share videos every now and then of the city. I'm sure there will be plenty as the weather continues to improve.
I really appreciate you stopping by the live stream and glad you could get some value out of it. It's something that we all struggle with... some more than others. I've certainly had my fair share and I still do today. But it's most definitely something worth intentionally working through.
In the end, everyone expresses themselves different. Some can talk, others can play music, others can speak the language of a computer. So in the end, the definition of authentic expression really depends on the context ;-)
Hey axios, thanks for answering!
I guess I didn't see this before because I've been in and out of the hospital.
I hope to get my health together soon and them I'll start posting some real content.
The subjects that I vlog about, other than directly @dtube or steemit related, are the same things that I talk about when I'm chillin' with my krewe :)
Peace.
Makes sense to me brutha! I usually feel the same. Sometimes I feel I can articulate things better in video than real life which is odd sometimes. But my brain can be interesting sometimes ;-)
Great vlog! keep goin!
Greetings!
