You don't need linux to use it, working with Windows, and Chrome. That's what I tried it with.

I did test both Firefox, and Internet Explorer also, those browser didn't work for me.

Same here. Nothing shows but a blank screen when using IE and/or Firefox. Also, the first video I uploaded will not play for me, but I have received several comments about parts of the video that people would have to have seen to know about, so it's obviously playing for others. There are several videos that do not play at all for my on DTube, and many that do.

Also, I have not had any luck getting any DTube videos to play on my phone or tablet. So far they will only play on my laptop. Also, I have very high speed internet, and there are still some videos that buffer. This only happens on Dtube. No other platforms ever buffer on my internet.

I guess this is to be expected with a new platform, and I'm sure all of the bugs will slowly be worked out. Once it's running at full capacity I know it's going to be a game changer.

What do you think is the best format to upload to DTube? I uploaded my video at 720p and it's in Mpeg format. Is that the right format to upload? I figured it must be since it's most likely the most popular.

It would be a huge favor for me if you could take a look at my video and see if it is playing for you. Here's the link:

If you could shoot me a reply and just let me know if it played OK for you that would be great :)

BTW, I really enjoyed your video. That music is new to me but I really liked it. Upvoted and followed you.

I guess our easiest answer to our problems are, that it's a very early beta, and things will get better over time, and a lot of people seem to have many kinds of problems at the moment.

The same thing happened to me right after I uploaded my video to DTube and published it. That the video did not play at all, that lasted for about 30 minutes or so, after that, only the first 1-2 minutes was able to play, and the video froze if you waited for more.

Now, 2 days later, the same video start to freeze around the 6 minute mark, the video in total is about 10 minutes.

I just checked your video (really good video btw!, I agree fully with what you said), your video is working for me, but it stops at 10 minutes and 4 seconds.

I think I'm the wrong person to help you out with what kind of video format you should use for DTube, as my video seem to work even worse than yours on the DTube platform. I don't know so much about video formats either, I just figured out what format that worked best for me on YouTube, to display the best quality, I don't even remember what my settings are :)

But it looks like that video file size is the biggest problem for DTube, the videos that seem to work good on DTube is the smaller ones, around 0-250 mb, the video I uploaded is about 600 mb, and still shorter than yours in play time. I'm just guessing now, but I think that people are uploading videos faster than the server can handle, I think they have to progress each video we upload into some other kind of format.

I also have a buffer problem for many of the videos that are on DTube, and I don't use to have that problem on other video platforms.

I'm very happy that you enjoyed my video :)

Your video was top notch! I'm gonna jump to it and upvote it righter after I post this reply ^^

Thanks for checking it out, and I'm glad you got it to play (somewhat). It's playing for me right now, however only the audio is working and it stays stuck on the thumbnail.

I actually got a message from @heimindanger, who is the person who brought us DTube.

He said:

"It works. DTube and the IPFS network are struggling a lot with big and new files uploaded to the network, I am working on improving it to the max I can. But usually your videos are easily viewable a bit later. Basically it takes some time to propagate and work well."

So that was comforting. I guess basically what that means is that it just takes time for the video to propagate and work properly. I'm hoping that the video will work on mine soon, but if not, at least the audio is working and people can listen to the video.

My video file size was only 208 MB and as I said, it was uploaded in MP4 format, which I believe is a universal format that usually works on just about everything.

At any rate, I'm going to keep uploading videos, as I think they are constantly working on DTube and every day should see improvements and bug fixes.

I'll check back with your blog frequently and take a look for new stuff! Thanks again :)

@contentking

Thank you :) I think it's a good idea for you to continue to upload to DTube right now.

I'm gonna wait a bit before I upload the rest of my mixes to DTube, so I can upload in higher quality and without problems. I made those mixes a while back annyway so a few more weeks or months won't probably hurt so much :)

One thing I hope they can fix soon is so we can delete posts or videos. The problem for me is that I don't own all the content in my videos. But I can Monetise them on YouTube, the gaming companies see it as free promotion, so they like people like me creating this kind of content.

But, I just want to be safe in the future, if something happens, lets say one of the composers, or gaming companies contact me, and want me to take down one of my videos, I wan't to be able to do that, even if I don't think it will happen.

I will check in to your blog also, from time to time :D

Happy steeming contentking!
