Assumption: DTube Will Become The Most Relevant Steem Application In 2018 || Btw: Just Killed My Voting-Bot In Order To Manually Curate Video Content ✅

in #dtube7 years ago
If you're not putting out relevant content in relevant places - then you don't exist. - Gary Vaynerchuk

As fulltime geeks the digital mark we leave online actually defines our existence.

To outstand in this fast growing market is our daily struggle. The pursuit of attention, the attempt to produce something relevant, the desire to inspire and make a difference is our constant challenge.

From all applications that have been built on the Steem blockchain so far, I firmly believe that @dtube is the most seminal. Video content is the dominating element in the digital world and it will be in the future.

Decentralized eco-systems such as the Steem blockchain, where (video) content creators can be finally rewarded in a way they deserve it, will bring digital communication to the next level.

Here's my prediction for 2018: DTube will become Steem's main driver to success!

Paving the way for YouTube's successor

As I mentioned in my last video, it's not the product that defines its own potential, it's the market that does.

If the market claims a solution for a specific problem, then there is a lot of potential.

Now DTube perfectly recognized the video market's need for a decentralized organization of video content distribution. Market leader YouTube is facing constant copywrite/censorship issues, and many established youtubers have already announced their exit. They're annoyed by an excessive regulation that considerably steals their valuable time and limits their creativity.

On the other hand content consumption on YouTube is also not state-of-the-art anymore. Since tokenized environments have been created, advertisement has lost its leading position in content monetization. Users are pretty aware of the fact, that they don't have to click themselves through a jungle of ads anymore in order to consume quality content.

Thanks to the tokenization of content distribution networks, advertisement as the no. 1 solution for content monetization has become obsolete.

Here we go - DTube's key drivers to success:

  1. Decentralized, uncensored and self-governed environment ✅
  2. Based on one of the most efficient blockchains in the world ✅
  3. High-ranking and potential network of developers, investors and partners ✅
  4. Easy user accessibility free of charge ✅
  5. Ergonomic and intuitive user interface ✅
  6. Financial incentive / refinancing opportunity ✅
  7. Fast growing high potential user network ✅
  8. Professional support / competent team ✅

@dtube's last update post on steemit.com was seen 22,441 times!

Link to the original article published by @heimindanger:D.Tube 0.6: Pushing it to the limit

That's a clear sign that the article was opened by a large number of people that are not part of the Steemit community.

The market's starting to react!

I'm pretty convinced that, if Steemit Inc. doesn't launch its application very soon (which was actually announced for December 2017), then it'll be hard to compete with the fast growing video app in the near future.

According to their last update (see link above), the DTube team is relatively small. Still they're incredibly efficient. To the question if their day had 25 hours, @heimindanger replied:

We are actually pretty lazy and maybe doing 5-6 hours a day but we are pretty motivated for DTube and the 3 devs all have good experience in what they are building for DTube. 3 devs+1 server admin is a pretty small team, so it's easy for me to communicate to everyone and it's pretty effective I believe.

Another great plus: communication is a priority.

The team is pretty transparent about their activities, keeps the community posted about their doings and seems to be fully committed.

Also their communication channels are open 24/7. I'm frequently checking DTubes discord channel by myself, and the dynamic always amazes me: constructive, supportive and efficient. Nice job, guys! :-)

Since I firmly believe in DTube's high potential, I just closed my Steemvoter account in order to curate video content manually.

According to @steemworld, the current value of my 100% vote is $2.31.

It may be just a drop in the entire rewards pool, but for new users it's definitely able to make a difference. So my focus will be on talented new comers that create smart video content.

For the time being I'll allocate 10 x 100% upvotes per day on dtube videos in order to fully support the application's growth.

I'm all in - and you? :-)

I think you're probably correct for 2018, dtube certainly is in the running. I've wanted to start some 'vlogs' of my recipes, perhaps I should hurry. In addition to you being correct, I think there are some 'apps' ( or ideas of 'apps') for the steem blockchain that haven't been thought of yet. That's what excites me about the future of steem.

Good call on letting the auto vote bot go. I think you will find manual curation more rewarding.

Oh yes, I remember that we were talking about your vlogs in one of our last conversations! I'm pretty sure that you'd be doing great. Looking forward :-)
There are surely a lot of apps in the pipeline. It'll be extremely intersting to see what's going to be launched during the next months. For the time being I go with DTube, but I'm open to any project that may appear in the future.

Manual curation is the only way to really control your VP and fully support quality content. I'm happy to be back at my roots :-)

"apps in the pipeline"

I see what you did there :-)

What do you mean by what you did there?

isn't pipeline a surfing term?

Ah now I got it! You mean the barrel (or tube) :-)
We actually call it: getting barreled. Well I wish I had done it already, still working on my technique, haha

Well, that shows how much I know. The only surfing I know how to do is surfing the web.

So, a SEA-tube instead of D-Tube?

Uploading my first D Tube video right now. Pretty disappointed in the length of time it's taking to upload a 1:26 minute video. I have a thriving YouTube channel, and post an average of 4 videos per day. Most are about 3 minutes in length. Because I provide breaking news and political commentary that I narrate in my home studio, upload speed is significant. This is a deal breaker for the type of content I provide. Over 30 minutes and still not even 50% completed. Bummer.

I Just said to myself I want it to happen organic this is such a beautiful thing i just setup my Dtube I have great content coming soon hope to see you there. Diversity is key

@surfermarly! Nice to see you. I was a bit shocked reading how you plan to change your voting habits and focus only on Dtube. At first it sounded like you were ditching all your friends to start hanging out with the new kid because they had something more to offer. I do see a lot of potential in Dtube as well though. I've been promoting it in private to a few Youtubers I know. Dtube will require solid curating efforts in order to succeed, so I can see why you're headed down that road now. It does make sense.

People need to be careful though. Those big record company pimps and their lawyers will pounce on those not respecting copyright. They can have that place shut down faster than you can say, "It's too late to apologize, it's too late(So sick of that song)."

I realize we're surrounded by many who think copyright is a joke and not worthy of their time, but that doesn't matter. I personally reserve the rights to most of my work simply because that's the language those hustlers in the big media corporations speak. I don't do it for selfish reasons. I put on my show for free and most days end up giving the patrons of my artform a tip for stopping by. It's the exact opposite of selling out. If these big media hustlers try to shut down Steemit because of a few bad actors, I'll save a lot of time and money when it comes time for them to start paying me restitution for shutting down my business and stealing my work. In other words, I reserve the rights to my work to defend myself against those hustlers. Artists fought for these rights long ago. Corporations started abusing it.

All that being said, if we want Dtube to be successful, we can't allow people to get sloppy. They must create their own videos from the ground up. They can't be borrowing music, for instance, because that's all it takes for those hustlers to get angry. Dtube is small right now. All those lawyers have to do is snap their fingers and the place is gone. That's where solid curating comes into play. Only original content should be rewarded.

I don't want to see the place fall. Those are my main concerns. How was that for ramble? I'm not even going to proofread! Have a nice day!

Hey @nonameslefttouse! First of all thanks for taking the time to reply in detail.

At first it sounded like you were ditching all your friends to start hanging out with the new kid because they had something more to offer.

It seems to be very human that if you stand up for something people only focus on the other options you didn't stand up for. It's as if I said that I love Coldplay and then people would ask: Oh wow so you dislike all the other bands then?

I personally see a lot of potential in DTube, and that's why I considered supporting new talents that are going to use this application in order to express themselves. Steemit.com has missed many options in the past, and now they'll have to deal with the consequences. A fancy Toggle Night Mode is nothing that pushes an application forward withing a fast growing market.

Now I 150% agree with your point regarding copywrite! Curating always included responsibility. I'm not a whale but still have some influence on what might become trending in a certain way. So I'm pretty aware of the package :-) Still thanks a lot for reminding me of the possible consequences. I'll definitely focus on creativity + copywrite protection!

These rules apply to any decentralized service built on the Steem blockchain. The next ones that'll have to deal with it will be the creators of @appics.

Again, thanks for stopping by and sharing your valuable thoughts!

PS: As you can see I didn't abandone Steemit and am still writing articles here. Just considered allocating my 2 Cents on video content for a while, that's all :-)

This part:

It seems to be very human that if you stand up for something people only focus on the other options you didn't stand up for. It's as if I said that I love Coldplay and then people would ask: Oh wow so you dislike all the other bands then?

So true. That's why I built you up, but didn't break you down. The picture became clear once I gave it more thought. Seems like everything needs to come equipped with a disclaimer these days. So annoying.

As for me... I took a long break from this place. Five months. I didn't abandon it either. Life happens. I came back and now more than anything I just want to see this place and everything else attached to it reach it's full potential.

Anyway. You keep doing what you're doing. You do a damn good job of it. Thanks for that generous vote. I got you back x2!

Haven't we all taken a break from this place in the past? :-) Those who joined early definitely did. It's a wild ride.

I appreciate talking to people in a way we've just done it, so thanks a lot!
As I pointed out in my last post: I'm not perfect either, and that's awesome. As long as we keep being vulnerable, we'll be the very best version of ourselves. So thanks for your encouragement and generous upvote, it means a lot! :-*

tbh i'm still working on that copyright thingy. i know its not a joke but i'm still pretty new to this content creating stuff. dam streaming was easier!. still i enjoy creating content (mainly gaming), i'm just having a huge feel for it. i'm just hoping i am not doing something wrong, and plagiarizing (if i am, it will mainly probably be for music) but i take great care not to.

Thanks for your vote on my video - I agree DTube is cool but who knows if it will be THE app on the blockchain. This all probably depends on delegation of SP again. I did not kill my steemvoter but it is on pause - my VP is never recovering it seems from both vote scenarios - manual and automated - too much to vote it seems. Have a great weekend!

You're more than welcome!
I was facing the very same issues, 100% were never enough :-) Now I have full control: 10 upvotes per day that's easy to handle, haha!

Have a great weekend, too!

Ach was weiss ich denn :-)

...und Steepshot for Fotos (Stichwort Wettbewerb)!

Agreed. DTube is going to pave way for loads of new STEEM users!

It's the perfect store sign! :-)

Steemit has already become more and more my go to website daily and less and less YouTube as I see DTube grow. I plan to start making my own videos on DTube soon enough. This is literally game changing stuff and I am so happy I stumbled upon it as early as I did. It's amazing that no matter how hard they try to silence our free speech, people come up with platforms and technology like this to keep the game going. Let keep on steemin folks.

See you on DTube then :-)

The way YouTube has been demonitising content for the last year or so might cause some content creators to start looking for a new platform. Only time will tell if they're willing to switch to dTube. It will be tough for many of them to bring along their viewers. Then again, it would only take a couple of influential content creators. Maybe they can start out by crossposting (posting on YouTube and on dTube).

I don't know much about the technical capabilities of dTube, what bandwidth can it support?

It will be tough for many of them to bring along their viewers.

They'll find a new audience on DTube then. Also views won't be that important anymore then :-)

For all technical questions you may follow the official steemit account @dtube and/or check out DTube's discord channel. There's also a group called #help where you can ask for support.

Love this! I couldn’t agree with you more that attracting content creators from YouTube is going to be a huge way that we grow the Steemit platform. Lack of censorship and decentralization is a total game changer for content creators... not to mention the monitary rewards.

Kuddos to you for devoting your time and vote to curating on dtube!

Kuddos to you for devoting your time and vote to curating on dtube!

I've just started and already found some really cool clips! It'll broaden my own horizon, so it's a win win :-)

Thanks for always inspiring us to expand our reach. You are an inspiration
to the community and a creative contributor to the platform.

Thanks for your lovely words @team101! :-)

awesome contribution to the Dtube team and Steemit.
