"Do you know how an apartment typically looks like in Cameron Highlands?"

Malaysia -
my home country
back in the old days before gaining its sovereignty
was colonized by British not only once but several times.
It therefore would not be surprised that
there were many British influences brought into the country.

Cameron Highlands -
A place that is greatly influenced by British culture and architecture.
The highlands was first discovered in 1885 by William Cameron and
was named after him who was a British explorer and geologist;
The highlands consist of several plateaus has significantly lower hence cozy temperature
although it's located in a tropical country;
The highlands was initially targeted as the British army retiree settlement place.

Therefore most of the building architecture design in the early days
were markedly impacted by British architectural design,
to be more specific it's called Tudor architectural style*.
As you can observe 'The Lakehouse' in the video -
diamond-shaped window panes;
prominent cross gables;
timber framing painted in dark brown or black as the exterior;
And fireplace made of stones as the interior.

Perhaps 'The Lakehouse' and 'The smokehouse' architecture are more eye-popping,
However, the exterior of some old terrace houses, apartments and even bungalows
contains the element of Tudor arch style.
To my surprise though,
The owner of both 'The Lakehouse' and 'The Smokehouse' was the same
who was a retired British Army Officer.

Some might say that it’s just an imposing mock of Tudor country house
Nonetheless that's the unique heritage brought from history.
I will not judge what you see but
let your own eyes be your judge next time
when you visit any apartments, bungalows or resort boutique hotel in Cameron Highlands :)
