Bujinkan Kata 擲返 Tekigaeshi Preview

in #dtube5 years ago

From https://www.rojodojo.com A preview of my Bujinkan video exploring the Bujinkan kata 擲返 Tekigaeshi. We warmed up by Rolling and striking. This requires being able to control your distance during the roll. We did it with both the opponent and attacker rolling. Then the defender comes out of his roll into a block.

I began class with 擲返 Tekigaeshi. In this form your defense is an attack. This attack to 脇壷 wakitsubo loads the opponent’s balance so you may knock him over with your kick.

I shared details about a class I had in Japan with Hatsumi Sensei. He told us to 空気にするで Kuki ni tsurude, or make the opponent into air. You make his attack empty, then float him up in the space.

Doing this before the kick allowed us to explore 四方 Shihō. Each direction for the kick sends the opponent crashing down in a challenging fall. Some of the ukemi is not even safe in practice!

Next, I showed a form of 探型 saguri-gata that I learned from Soke. He uses the fingertips to snake around the attacker’s arm. This allows you to penetrate and “feel” for kyusho that would otherwise be hard to connect with during a fight.

I finished by applying this motion the the larger space when there are multiple attacks. In this way you don’t pick kyusho out of your own mind and look for them on the opponent’s body. They appear and disappear. Then you take the one that is useful in the moment.

Of Note: corn fed ninja mouse
