Testing Skywatcher AZ-GTi & SynScan Hand Controller

in #dtube6 years ago

There hasn't been a chance to learn the new Skywatcher alt-az mount and the Orion V5 SynScan Hand Controller until today so just a little testing on the Sun.

There's several reasons why I'm trying the hand controller instead of the SynScan app. One is the problem I was having after aligning, then trying to move around the object. With the app, it would snap the image back to where it thought it should be which was an issue for me. Now with the hand controller, a home position isn't required when in Full Feature Mode, which is nice. Just level it then manually adjust the mount to say the Sun for instance - this gives me time to zoom in and center it, then on the controller do the alignment sequence. That seemed to eliminate the snap-back issue I was having with the app.

Early days and still learning, but I'm pleased with it so far.
