Mindful Monday - Stalactites
Mindful Monday
Back from cruising the Caribbean! And I wanted to share one of my favourite sounds from the trip with you.
In Mexico near Playa Del Carmen, we participated in a Temazcal spiritual cleansing ceremony. After sweating out any negative energies and toxins we were holding in the Temazcal, we entered the caverns and caves of a cenote (one of the sinkholes that populate the #Yucatan region of Mexico, pronounced sen-o-tay).
Snorkeling in the crystal clear waters of the cenote, full of healing minerals, we were able to see some incredible stalactites (hanging from the ceiling) and stalagmites (rising from the ground). These are formed mainly by calcium, which is brought down into the caverns by water filtering down through the earth. The droplets on the end of the stalactites show that the formations are hollow and, much to my surprise and delight, our tour guide showed us that if you strike them gently, they ring like bells! 😍
I didn't have a way of recording the sound, so I've done my best to recreate it with some crystal bowls for you today! Wishing you a wonderful week and sending you warm vibes from the Caribbean.
