RE: d.tube error: Please upload a video before submitting

in #dtube5 years ago (edited)

Getting same error, both Opera and Chrome. Tried several times and no luck. Looking for YT alternative for video blocked due to copyrights, I thought this platform looked good but after spending ages signing up with Steemit, messing about with keys, linking accounts and finally thinking I was getting there, the main feature I signed up for (i.e. uploading videos) doesn't even work?
I must say, even assuming I manage to get the uploads to work, just in terms of simplicity of signing up and getting the account up and running, this has some way to go if it's hoping to compete with YT. Shame because a real alternative is needed, but it looks to me like this ain't it. Looks like it a bit, sadly doesn't work well.
EDIT: after converting to a different format and re-uploading, it seemed to accept it. Except it's not working, when you try to play it it says "The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported."
It would have been helpful if I had been told the format wasn't supported BEFORE I spent another half an hour uploading it, or failing that, BEFORE I published it.
And to add insult to injury, now I can't even delete the faulty video, because apparently once it gets a like it can't be deleted. Who even liked a video that couldn't be played?
The Dtube account itself seems to have no options for deleting, editing or unlisting your videos. I wasn't expecting YouTube Studio levels of editing power, but this is pretty basic stuff.
Sorry guys, I was ready to support this platform but it's just not good enough. There's a lot of work to do on it and it shouldn't even be public in its current state.
Now, if only I knew how to delete my account...
