Today, while reluctantly opening and eating canned food, I remembered there was canned food in WWI. Then I thought about wheat and the roman empire, and how portable food seems to still be an important aspect of conquest. Acted as just a reminder that the world we live in is largely shaped by violence.

Yeah, government is violence. They use fear, theft, slander, and a myriad of other terribly immoral tactics, but without violence their power would dissolve.

If you don't bend to the rules, you will eventually be met with violence. People like to pretend there's morality involved in the decision making, to justify the violence, but there's not.
