Is Copper and Lead Precious Metals/Worth Stacking?

in #dtube7 years ago (edited)

Recently I was talking with a friend of mine about stacking or collecting copper. Now I know that copper just doesn't have the same street cred as gold and silver but would it hurt anything to have a little bit stashed away for a “just in case" situation?
In this video I talk about different uses copper has in the world and it's current value. By no means am I saying investing in copper will be a quick turn and burn investment because obviously it's not, but it could be one of those things that you wish you would have picked up when the price was low.

I also talk about the value of firearms ammunition. Even if you don't own a single firearm, ammunition can be a valuable item to have on hand. In the video I talk about how the price and availability of ammunition has fluctuated over the recent years.

I hope you enjoyed the video and I also hope that it may have sparked some interest in becoming more prepared for drastic situations with thinking outside of the box just a little bit

@bluelightbandit
Wow. I see that you really did step up your presence in Steemit.
I was way behind keeping up with you. Sorry about that.
I have at least acknowledged them all now.
Thank you for giving you part and effort in Steemit.
The Steem price is moving up.
Thank you

Francis

No apologies needed, @francisk! I had just typed some messages to you on some of your blogs and I never got any responses back which is highly unusual, that's why I was questioning if something was wrong with the platform again or something. Don't worry about going back to respond to any of them, they were just general replies I believe lol. One was about smoking and tattoos because you and Becca were talking about not having any tats and not smoking. I mentioned that I smoked for 24 years and stopped on May 10, 2010 but still crave them to this day! Lucky that you don't have that nasty habit! Interesting thing is even though I still crave the nicotine, I can't stand to smell the smoke any more! I can't believe that I smelled like that for so many years! Funny how alcohol and cigarettes are legal in this country and cause so many deaths but cannabis is still illegal, don't ya think? I'm jumping off track big time and we don't need to go down that road right now. But thank you nevertheless, I'm just glad that you weren't ignoring me or had put me in timeout :)

Fantastic video! That's the first time I've seen polished copper rounds and bars. They're nicely done with a beautiful shine. ;)

Thanks, I've had them for a while now. Just something a lil different.

I stack lead like its going out of style. For copper, I am limited to pre '82 because pennies are a one hundred percent return on investment the day you own it. Subbed and liked!

Yeah, I don't want to say exactly how much lead I have stashed away, but it's a lot lol. It's either money in the bank or a fun day at the range, either one!

Might be good to have a little copper scrap but not to pay these wild premiums on copper rounds.

I agree with ya on the premiums, they are high for the single rounds.

I got some copper pennies for that just in case scenario.

Ya never know, it may come a day when you were glad you saved those.

Good stuff @bluelightbandit! I save pre '82 copper pennies and being a metal detectorist, I find and melt a lot of lead into ingots. I haven't tried smelting any copper ingots or rounds yet, using my scraps, but I hope to learn someday.

Metal detecting is something that I would love to get in to! That's all I need is another expensive hobby to get in to lol. I know you can get basic gear fairly cheap but I don't like buying cheap equipment, that's my problem. If I started doing it, I would go all out and sink a ton of money in to it. I don't know what I'm complaining about, it can't be any worse than my gun addiction lol.

Are you a gangster ?

Possibly....😎

You sound alot like me @bluelightbandit. A couple years ago some co-workers were talking about stacking silver. I listened for a bit then chimmed in and said "I'm stacking lead." They looked at me funny, then I went on to say "I'm stacking hot lead, cus if you don't have hot lead to protect your gold and silver, somebody with hot lead will take your gold and silver away from you."

Right now my lead to silver is at a ratio of 1000 to 1. I would like to get some more silver and bring that down to 100 to 1. I'm especially fond of my steel core lead in the 7.62x39 variety.

Yep, I will sell my silver and gold in times of need before I sell my ammo!

Can't hurt to have some copper for sure, the only copper I have is in a couple cool rounds that I bought for reasons other than their copper content.

Maybe for long term stacking buying a few rolls of copper wire might not be a bad way to keep some around in case big price spikes.

That's not a bad idea! And then if you ever needed to sell it, you would have two separate markets to go to, great idea!

I suggest up people all the time that they should invest in copper, lead and brass. Don't forget the brass!

Smart man! People often get too hung up on the shiny bling bling and forget about those forgotten metals.

Brass casings are also used for swaging jacketed bullets.
