"Apeironas" (Apeiron) Theatrical Performance "Ašmenys" (Blades) Part 3 - A Visual Story (15 Photos)

3rd part of theatrical performance by already known by earlier posts "Apeiron Theater" - small unconventional theater located in the center of Klaipeda city

"Poetic action "Blades", based on a collection of poems "Metugės" by a Lithuanian poet, prose writer, playwright and actress Birutė Pūkelevičiūtė. This collection of poems, filled with an erotic, that gentle, wild feeling of a loving woman, erupted from the subconscious, was counted in Lithuania as an example of morality and morality. For post-war Lithuania, it was unexpected that the pronoun "She" would become an active figure, no longer just an extension of the masculine ego. K.Bradūnas wrote: "The biological beginnings of the woman and the unbridled vitality overshadow entire poems."

The poetic world and subject of Pūkelevičiūtė was created before the theories of feminist criticism spread, so she did not receive much intercession. But the fact is - the poem by B. Pūkelevičiūtė, "The Cry of Rachel", was included in the anthology of world poetry next to A.Rimbaud, R.Frost, V.B.Yeats ...

In the poetic action "Blade", the creators of Apeiron Theater do not seek support, do not intend to defend their rights or declare a revolution - they are simply looking for a speech that can convey the experience of B. Pūkelevičiūtė's poetry and personal experience.

The axis of the poetic action "Blade" revolves around the loneliness of young women - alienated, warlike. The main question here is: what does it mean to be a woman creator in Lithuania? The close relationship with creation introduces another important theme: the peculiar perception of sin and the need to break free from the constraints of traditional morality.

These are women who work, suffer, rejoice, fear, give birth, bury their dead. They have to rely on themselves - there is no one to defend them. Their fortitude stems from their own.

For the expression of the poetic action "Blade" the associative, physical body language with and through the blade was chosen. The "double bottom" effect is in fact all kinds of female openings, so the poetic act alternates between what is visible and what is beyond sight, what is only perceived and what is obvious.

So well, if You did read all above, the theme is really not easy to perform and reflect. But those to actors (and directors of the theater at same time) usually do miracles with their visualizations. At this point I'm a lot honored to be almost the part of the team managing to freeze the moments in photography to both parties satisfaction :)
As usual story, over 500 frames are finally retouched and presented. Not to overload post too much, as per practice about 15 will be uploaded each time, so do expect quite a few parts of...
