HALLOWEEN DEVIL MERINGUE COOKIES VIDEO - ALLASYUMMYFOOD
These devil meringue cookies are so adorable, and will be perfect for any halloween party! They are super easy to make, and perfect if you are struggling for easy halloween ideas. I love them, as they are cute and devily delicious!
Ingredients
4 large egg whites
Pinch of salt
Cold water 60 ml
Sugar - 250 gr
1 tsp vinegar (white wine, cider or distilled)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbs plus 1 tsp cornstarch
Red food colouring
Black food colouring
Directions
Step 1 : Preheat oven to 120 C (250°F)
Step 2 : Start off by placing your egg whites in the bowl of a stand mixer with a pinch of salt. Whisk until frothy on medium speed.
Step 3 : Add the water slowly while whipping the whites on low speed.
Step 4 : Then add sugar, turn up the speed and whip until stiff peaks.
Step 5 : Fold in the vanilla, vinegar and cornstarch. Continue mixing on high for 4-7 minutes until thick and glossy.
Step 6 : Separate into 2 bowl, with 1/3 for the black mixture and 2/3 of red mixture. Add food colouring, mix through. Place into a zip lock bags fitted with a plain tip.
Step 7 : Pipe the red meringue first on the parchment paper. Then pipe the horns with the black meringue on the sides.
Step 8 : Bake for 60 minutes or until the meringue starts to turn a very pale tan color. Never open the door while its cooking, or meringue will crack. Once baked leave in the oven for 1 hour or best overnight. Enjoy them straight away or keep in air tight container.
