Hello friends!!

The subject of business always makes me smile, and yet to know why!!

Question 1- Are you planning to start a business or already in business?

I love business. Growing up as a child, I helped my mum managed her business, she sold all kinds of provisions and drinks.

While my Dad had an electronic business he opened and left it in the care of my siblings to manage it, it was more like a family business.

My childhood experiences contributed to my love for business. Owning a business truly makes you a boss of your own.

Presently I am planning to start up my own business. The business I would like to go into is Poultry business. The aspect of poultry I would focus for a start would be chicken.

I would want to focus on chicken for their eggs and meat. People always eat eggs and meat and barely can not do without it, no matter how expensive the price gets.

From my findings, three out of every five living around my location eat egg every day. This is either because they can not afford to buy meat so they look for substitute. Over here in my country especially in the city where I live, eggs are eaten in meals as substitute for meat.

Also from my findings, the remaining two out of the five prefers to eat meat no matter the price. And lately chicken meat seems to be more affordable than goat meat or beef, which are classified as read meat.

You will agree with me that this business has a good market coverage and definitely will be suitable in my location.

Question 2- Keeping in mind that you can start your business alone or on a partnership basis, what is your idea of your business model? Describe in 200- 250 words

I would love to go into partnership business, I can not handle the poultry business alone.

My idea for a business model will be :

• Finances
• Business Location
• Poultry type
• Housing and feeding
• My market target and sales

Finances :
Funding the business. Since its going to be a partnership business,from my end I will be raising money from my savings. Every business needs capital but with the increase in price of items, prices changes almost every day.

Business location: it is always good to consider where a business is sited. The business will be located around a residential area not a farm because farms are usually located very far from the people making it hard for people to reach.

Poultry Type
I would want to focus on two types of chicken. The broilers and the layers. The broilers will provide the meat for sale while the layers will provide the eggs for sale. I will be starting with 30 layers and 30 broilers. As time goes on, it will be increased.

Housing and feeding: The type of housing that will be constructed will be intensive system, so that I can properly manage them well. They will be fed with required daily meal and vitamins.

Market target and sales: my market target for my products will be families and food vendors around my locality. This is why am not locating my business on a fram because it is far from my target.

Question 3- Keeping in mind partnership businesses have both advantages and disadvantages, what is your idea of your business model? Describe in up to 200-250 words

Partnership business is definitely great but almost every thing that has advantage also has disadvantage, with no exceptions to partnership business.

Pros of partnership business

• The day to day running of the business such as the tasks is done by the partners rather than one person. In my case, I will not be left alone to clean the house of the chicken daily, feed them or make supply to costumers. We both can decide to share the job for efficiency.

• Bills and income for funding is shouldered by the parties involved in the business. In my case their many expenses to be taken care of and left for me, I may not be able to get the income on my own, my partner will assist with their funds.

• The partners can put their ideas together to produce amazing results. Yes it's true. I am my partner will work effectively with great ideas.

Cons of Partnership business

• Depending on how much trust and understanding each partner have for themselves, disagreement or argument may arise in the business.

• Whenever the business experiences loss, the losses are beared by the partners. Unforseen loses may occured such as death of chicks, we will both share in the loss.

• One partner can not pose as the owner of the business, because it is a joint venture.

• There needs to be an agreement with the partners when making decisions concerning the business because it is not a one man business.

Question 4-You are in a business now and doing well; let's know what your plans are and what efforts you are making to expand your business for the long term. Will you do it on your own or hire professionals?

Every business owner wish for expansion and growth in their business.

Among the plans I have to expand my business will be to increase my market target. I would go for supermarkets and shopping malls to supply eggs and chicken meat.

work force will be expanded to the point where I would have drivers and van for delivery of my products to desired location.

I would have a website online where customers can make their orders of our products. This is for those who can not come down to our office farm.

I and my partner will decide to move our business from the residential area to the farm where we will have more space to do our business, because now we are already known unlike when we were just starting. The costumers may not need to come to us, all they need to do is to make their orders and we deliver to them since we have vans for delivery.

I have plans to study the works of people who are already into the business to learn. Their services are needed.I guess they will be termed as professionals. I sure need the help of professionals, since I have never done this business in a large scale before.
