New Song Release, only on Steemit!
When I was younger I'd spend some summer nights cat fishing and playing music with friends. One of these friends is now the lead singer for the Ohio band The American Landscape. We recently reconnected through music after all these years, and this week he came over to help me out with a brand new release. He has one of those voices that just rings with emotion, and you really get a sense of it in this recording.
"Syria, or West Virginia" was written about war-torn Syria, but when I sing it I also see places like Boone County, West Virginia in my head as well.
Lyrics:
There were flowers in the garden beside the street
where we would play
There was laughter in the house before everyone went
away
Tell me a story, sing me a song
About the days before things were gone
Before the rubble, before the dust
Before God in heaven stopped hearing us
There were trees up on the mountains there was no fear in the dark
There was life in the river and there and was strength in our hearts
Tell me a story, sing me a song
About the days before things were gone
Before the rubble, before the dust
Before God in heaven stopped hearing us
No more flowers in the garden, no more garden no more street
No more laughter in the house, now there’s nobody left to meet
Tell me a story, sing me a song
About the days before things were gone
Before the rubble, before the dust
Before God in heaven stopped hearing us
Tell me a story, sing me a song
About the days before things were gone
Before the rubble, before the dust
Before God in heaven stopped hearing us

Really impressive ..
Thank you for sharing
God did not stop hearing us, but we stopped believing in him
Sorry kids
This is a good point.
I can clearly see a change happening.
First people used to that on youtube but now users are shifting to steemit and dtube. Better for Crypto community.
Absolutely. I'm spreading the word...
Great song.
Thanks.
Such beautiful and heartfelt lyrics, I love it.
I agree! The lyrics are very deep and touching.
Thank you both!
Beautiful song! Thank you!
This is deep man, it resonated with so much of what I have going on, and I guess that's the thing that makes this wonderful. You wrote it for something but it got to me in another way, and I really don't have nothing to do with Syria or the USA. Great piece!
Wow, thanks for the kind words.
What amazing lyrics! I love your stripped back music but I would also love to hear this with a full band and professional production. I think it would be stunning!
Maybe someday!
I write music too you should check me out if you have https://steemit.com/photography/@lil-willy/the-best-side-of-steemit-here-are-the-lyrics-to-my-new-song
