Max Roach inspired drum lesson

One of my students with a rock background got interested in Jazz. I started introducing him to the history of jazz and how it first evolved in New Orleans. We worked on second line rhythms and once he got the feel for some of them we did this exercise in the video. It's based on Max Roach's Mop Mop rhythm which was a theme in Max's solo in the song "For Big Sid." We focused on playing a groove based solo around Max's thematic Mop Mop rhythm.
