People do not want to use Alcohol or Tobacco they are forced to!...

I was reading a post called: Why we should decriminalise All Drugs and I have came to an idea.

Why is Alcohol and Tobacco legal?

  • Taxes

I think that the reason why all drugs are banned is because of the insane amount of money that is being paid on taxes to the government. They do not want to loose the control over this and want to keep that money flowing in their hands.

  • Something has to be legal

The goverment had to keep at least some substances legal for the recreational use otherwise there would be complete anarchy and people would be trying to get their hands on anything possible.

Making drugs legal does not make them any better than they are as illegal

(read Why we should decriminalise All Drugs)
Decriminalising drugs is actually much better attitude than the current war on drugs. Still there probably wouldn't be something like the marihuana shops with heroin, cocaine, meth,... For many people it makes no difference if drugs are legal or not they simply do not want to take them. There would aslo much more accurate reasearch on drugs and better education so they would actually know what to expect if the would want to experiment with them which they will always want!

People do not want to use Alcohol or Tobacco they are forced to...

I realized that there are many other drugs that people use nowadays and prefer them over Alcohol and/or Tobacco. This means that if all drugs would have been actually decriminalised there probably would not be so many people buying alcohol or cigarettes when they could just smoke weed or take e.g mdma for their friday night which are much safer substances if used responsibly. If there would be free market and people would be selling drugs between themselves or producing them on their own the prices would be significantly lower.

Forbidden fruit tastes the best

Everyone knows that forbidden fruit tastes the best and that is the main reason why people want to even experiment with drugs. If they had access to proper information about these substances they probably wouldn't even try them in the first place. Also if everyone knew more about drugs they wouldn't use most of them and those who would be using smth like heroin would be on the edge of the society anyway because people don't want to be friends with junkies...

Alcohol

I also would like to add that alcohol is really hard drug in comparison with many drugs that are illegal or even schedule 1 such as marihuana, LSD, Psilocybin,... It can be physically addictive and in comparison with e.g. the drugs I have stated you can really loose yourself or overdose. Important to say is that it is not the substance that kills usually but the amount!! The problem is that most people do not know this because of the lack of infomartion and rather just kill their brain cells with alcohol than doing something else.

To sum it up I think that the whole war on drugs is just a campaign from government to make profit from it but it probably causes more harm than good because in the end there are huge expenses that have to be paid to make the war on drugs to "work".
