In a tightly contested match, Bangladesh A came out victorious against Sri Lanka A in the first unofficial one-dayer at Sylhet.
Bangladesh A were sent in to bat first by Sri Lanka and put on a formidable 280 on the board for the loss of seven wickets, courtesy of Mizanur Rahman’s 67 at the top of the innings and Fazle Mahmud’s 59. Mizanur struck a 107-ball 67 with four fours and three sixes.
Mohammad Mithun struck a run-a-ball 44 before Ariful Haque blazed his way to a 22-ball 47-run knock, hitting three fours and four sixes as the A team managed a strong total. Soumya Sarkar, who opened the innings with Mizanur, fell after a 34-ball 24.
Sri Lanka A fell just two runs short of Bangladesh A’s total, bowled out for 278. Dasun Shanaka hit a run-a-ball 78 and had managed an 84-run fifth wicket partnership with Ashan Priyanjan.
After that partnership was broken by Ariful Haque, Sri Lanka A batsmen struggled to form partnerships even after getting decent starts. Right-arm medium pacer Khaled Ahmed was on the expensive side but bagged four wickets. 17-year-old left-arm medium pace Shoriful Islam bagged three wickets for 54 runs.
