Tuak : Traditional Indonesian alcoholic beverages
Almost every region in Indonesia has tuak. One of them is Lombok. Tuak Lombok is produced from palm flowers.
The work is done in the middle of the forest, near the trees. Palm trees are widely grown in forest areas. It took all night to process it. Starting from waiting for the sari-sari flower out, until the water flows meet the bowl or container bucket.
The water that comes out is called the palm juice. Then, the juice of the palm flowers mixed with the roots of longitude trees that have been cut into pieces. Longitude root gives a pink effect. Also play a role in increasing alcohol levels. Tuak alcohol content of new so be around 8 percent.
Every day, early in the morning, the vendors came with empty jerry cans. The tuak in the bucket is moved to a jerry can. Arriving at home, palm wine will be distilled. The point is that alcohol reacts to increase.
Later, tuak sold in bottles of mineral water measuring 1.5 liters. Per bottle valued USD 1-3. Tuak, for the local community also became a symbol of kinship. Served to entertain guests or drink when gathered with relatives.
