Did you know that ...all the tubers absorb #herbicides, #pesticides and #fungicides present in the soil? #Potatoes are treated with fungicides during the growing season and then sprayed with herbicides before their harvest. After harvesting, potatoes are treated again to prevent them from sprouting. Usually potato growers do not eat the potatoes they grow and sell. Most of them have separate plots where they grow potatoes for themselves without using chemicals commonly used in traditional crops.
