This is a feature I thought would be useful ever since that time before tournaments were officially released, and some people had begun creating unofficial tournaments (I think it was by the end of 2018). I remember I had considered taking part in a tournament, but couldn't because it would be happening at an inconvenient time for me. Asynchronous tournaments would make it so that we won't need to worry about timezone differences or not being available to play at the time the matches are happening.
Aside from that, though, I wish they would do something about the accessibility problems on the website. As a visually impaired player and user of screen reader software, I'm having a lot of trouble to select the cards when sending them to battle. I was excited when they mentioned accessibility updates in that news post, but unfortunately the problem that is affecting me wasn't fixed.
The asynchronous tournaments could really be game changer for tournament battles. Splinterlands is a global game, after all. A convenient time for me, say 5pm could be most inconvenient for those whose timezones are 12 hours apart from mine.
On the accessibility front, that's one aspect of accessibility I haven't considered. But now that you mention it, I have noticed that steemmonsters.com isn't the most accessible or compatible website out there. It's not the same issue, but I've had trouble loading it in some machines too. Hope they get it fixed so everyone can have a more enjoyable time playing the game. I wonder if this has been brought to the developer's attention?
I've left comments on the SM posts and mentioned the accessibility issues many times, but no one has ever said anything. Recently I created a topic about this on the Splinterlands forum. Let's see if anything comes out of it.
I'll check out that forum post. Maybe it just needs to make a little bit more noise to get it in the developers' agenda. It could be a numbers thing, after all.
voted for: Guilds. Not yet released, but it will be great to organize and grow together with friends.
I'm surprised that the mobile app is beating out guilds, these are going to be awesome!
Really? I'm personally more excited about the mobile app, myself. Although that could just be because I don't know how the guilds will be implemented, yet.

I think this is a great way to grow the game. I am playing other games and using other dapps with the "io" type and all are fast and modern and update quickly.
I'm just glad to see all of the good changes recently.
Yup. All the updates, both those already released and the upcoming ones are coming along nicely. It's really exciting times not just for Splinterlands, but for blockchain gaming, itself.

I'm yet to play steemmonsters as the 10 steem used to be a lot to me, and it still is
True, you will have to invest in the beginning to play both to buy the Starter Pack and the additional cards needed to play. But, it's definitely worth the invesment, both because the game is just fun to play and the earning opportunities are a lot.
One way to get started without having to spend a lot is to join contests like this one. I myself got my start from joining contests, winning some cards, and then selling those cards until I can buy the Starter Pack. Sometimes, there are even contests for Starter Pack codes. Also, there are players selling discounted Starter Packs in the Splinterlands Discord Channel, so you can ask about that if you're interested.
Thanks for stopping by!
Yet to see a contest with starter pack. How do I sell cards? Think I've won a couple of them so I buy the starter pack

Contests for starter packs are pretty rare. That's because the starter pack codes are rare, themselves. Usually, people only get them as part of the rewards in a crowdfunding campaign. You'll need to watch out for them.
You can sell your cards through the Steemmonsters.com or at peakmonsters.com, which is a marketplace for Steem Monsters card. Personally, I use @peakmonsters for managing my cards (buying/selling, renting, etc.) because you can clearly see the card prices and how much others are buying/selling them for.
Thank you for the explanation and thanks for your time.

I recently sold all of my Steem Monsters cards.
Maybe I will get back to the game somewhere in the future, but I don't know.
If you're planning on coming back and worried about having no cards, have you considered card delegation? I myself am competing using completely borrowed cards because the cards I own are pretty weak.
That is a good idea.
I could collect more DEC (Dark Energy Crystals) (and maybe even reward cards) without having (owning) any card.
But card borrowing would be much easier with an internal (in-game) card delegation/lease market, but currently there is no internal (in-game) card delegation/lease market in Steem Monsters/Splinterlands.
The lease market is through peakmonsters.com. That's where I do all the leasing, etc. It's a project by the team behind @steempeak, but I believe they collaborated with @steemmonsters for the project, too.
The website is actually a well-developed marketplace for Steem Monsters/Splinterlands cards. You can buy cards in bulk, bid on cards for sale, and lease. They also have a pretty good block explorer for all steem monsters activities. You should check it out if you decide to go back into the game, too.

I think that Splintertalk.io (and Palnet.io) is a great addition for the Steem community. Steem-Engine is on a roll and now there is a chance to invest even more into the Spinterland movement.
That's so true. Steem-Engine has made so many things possible for the blockchain, and for Splinterlands specifically. Now there are more reasons to join. And even non-players have new ways to invest aside from just buying cards and selling them in the market. Also, I love how you called it a "movement".

Really looking forward to this for 2 reasons. I can play while travelling or waiting somewhere and earn my DEC. The other is the amount of exposure we are going to get from Appstore users. It's basically free marketing. More users mean more value fo my cards and DEC.
You're right about the free marketing in app stores. So many times I've downloaded games and apps I haven't heard about until I saw them in the app store. That's a completely new market for the game, too!

I haven't played Splinterlands is quite some time, sold all my cards in fact!
However, a mobile app, I'm not gonna lie, will most likely get me interested again.
See, I just really wasn't feeling like playing it while at my computer. I just felt I had better things to do.
But, when I'm out & about, chilling on my couch, or the ever-popular, sitting on the crapper, I can totally see myself playing it on my phone for a quick match or two.
I just hope the mobile app is properly designed for phones & touch screens. I hope they don't just shrink down their website layout and slap it onto the app store calling it a day. They need to redesign the menus & UI to make it more touch friendly and easier to browse on a cramped phone screen.
Here's hoping they pull it off! :^)
So true. There are a lot of UI issues that must be resolved for a website to be properly used in mobile. I'm with you in hoping they actually address these issues and not just make quick work of it. I'm hopeful for the team, though. They seem like a capable group, especially with what they've been doing for the blockchain recently.
Absolutely. They are one of the few groups of devs around here that I actually have faith in lol

Yeah. And to think their group has managed launch a number of exciting projects all in the last few months, alone. And we're still in the first half of 2019.
