The issue with Door Dash and other services like it
You chose your job, don't bitch about it
If you work for Door Dash or Uber Eats and you are on Facebook or other social media sites complaining about tips and get mad that someone calls out that it is the company's issue, and you shouldn't be bitching about tips because that is for providing a good service if you stupidly decide to work for $2 a trip. You should be bitching to the company that is taking advantage of you, not the people who are possibly going to tip you. If someone orders $10 worth of food $2 is 20% of their order and that has always been standard for good to great service, just because you decided to work for a crappy company doesn't make it the customer's responsible for your pay.
They say it is a tip thing but they still don't deliver when they get a 50% tip
The ironic thing is the one time I tried to order from one of these companies was at the start of the pandemic. I ordered $30 worth of food from Applebees, and left a $15 tip. 3 hours later I still didn't have my food. They refused to refund my money and I had to dispute it and tweet about it to get my money back. Never again have I ordered. But seeing all these entitled people bitching about tips. If you don't like it, get another job. You choose to work for them. To bitch about it, is your problem and potential customers don't want to hear about it.
If you find yourself bitching about the pay of your job or contract
Get a new job or a new contract. Seriously this entitlement crap needs to stop. You make choices you deal with those choices. I am self employed, it isn't easy by far. But the one thing you will never hear me doing is bitching about my income. Because my income falls on me, just like it does with independent contractors that take crappy contracts. When you are self employed you are responsible for your income or lack there of. And if you are bitching about tips you are likely giving shitty customer service. I know this because I have been self employed nearly all my life, but I have also been an independent contractor (which is a form of self contract employment) When you are depending on tips you have to give great service and never complain to the public, because it will effect how much you make. I am a photographer and customer service is my number 1 priority and though I don't expect or require tips because of the service I give, I get tipped frequently.
Saying all this I am a great tipper
I tip very well, for great service, even when I get crappy service I still tip, though I won't tip as much as I will if I have great service. My standard is 20% unless I get Great service then I will tip 30-50% and if I get crappy service I will tip only 15% and if I get terrible terrible service I will drop it to 10% because tipping is for providing a good to great service.
