Call To Action - Help Family In Need

in #donation7 years ago (edited)

This is a call to action to help raise funds for a family living in a house without electricity and proper running water.

You can participate in several ways. Please, read the story and then decide whether you would like to join and help. Thank you!

A Family In Dire Need

This is a story about family Štampek, living in a southeastern part of Slovenia near town of Hudenje. You might say that stories like this one can not be real in central Europe these years but they are.

Marjan and Tatjana Štampek have bought a small piece of land in the year 2004. Their nearest neighbour is 1.2 kilometers away. As is the nearest electric power source. They were promised by the municipality that the electricity lines will be constructed to their new home after the upgrade of the local power station. Which never happened.

Fourteen years later they are still struggling without electricity. And without proper running water to add to the already dire situation. They were told that the expense of building a power line is 20,000 Euros. Which they don't have.

Now they are a family of four. Their children, seven years old Lev and his two years younger sister Ela live in conditions which shouldn't exists in any country, let alone in a seemingly organised and socially developed country like Slovenia pretends to be.

Marjan is a horseshoe maker. The best there is. A hearty man who helps with his hands anybody any time. Yet his income is barely enough for a family to make ends meet. His wife Tatjana is an unemployed veterinarian. Right now she' is trying to get her diploma, earned in Croatia, verified by Slovenian authorities. Which is another costly battle with bureaucracy.

The Immediate Need

After the authorities have been publicly confronted with the situation they somehow managed to lower the costs of connectig the house with the electricity network. Now they need only 16,000 Euros.

Which is where we as a #community step in.

Can we gather funds to help the family?

Can we bring their struggle to a happy end?

Every Euro counts!

Let's move from words to action.

What Will I do?

I promise you that I will donate all liquid funds acquired through awards from articles on this platform in the period from today, February 27th 2018 up to March 13th 2018.

What Can You Do?

You can do many wonderful things!

Before I start numbering them, let me say that your participation is your decision alone. Nobody will force you into anything. You decide whether you will help.

  1. You can donate SBD and Steem directly to my account.

  2. You can upvote and resteem this article and the forthcoming reports of this donation campaign.
This way you will spread the word and we will, hopefully, reach bigger audience and attract more donors.
  3. You can donate directly via SEPA transaction
Details on how to do that are published in the footnotes of this article.

How Will I Conduct This Campaign?

  1. I will publish regular reports on funds collected with all the details
  2. I will maintain a publicly viewable Google Docs spreadsheet with all the funds collected and regularly publish the link to it
  3. At the end of fortnight period I will, in a most profitable way possible at the time, convert collected funds into Euros and send them to a bank account where the funds for the Štampek family are gathered
  4. I will document and publicize this transaction

In a word, it will be a 100% transparent #fundraising for a good cause!

The Article In Ona Magazine

The following article about the situation in which family Štampek finds itself was published in Slovenian weekly magazine Ona. It is in Slovenian, of course. I am certain that you will glean the meaning and the need from it even without knowing the language.

Sort:

This is great of you for doing this. I hope my little upvote and a small donation helps. 💚

Petra, thank you very much.

So far the response is not overwhelming yet I am OK with it. I know the reach is not big enough. It is the issue of the platform.

With many small steps, we will be able to gather a considerable sum.

Hvala :)

PS: hvala za donaciju!

This is too much for me :( Donated something
