Donald Trump V Hilary Clinton, an opinion from outside the USA…
This November sees the biggest box office attraction of the year when Donald Trump goes up against Hilary Clinton in the race for the Whitehouse. But what does the rest of the world think about this, and can people from the USA learn anything from their thoughts?
I find it quite amazing that 5% of the world’s population (USA) is attracting virtually 100% of the world’s population, maybe not North Korea or Iran, with its upcoming general election. I live in Europe and nearly every day the news outlets here talk about Donald and Hilary.
Most of the news we receive is all about how they seem to be slandering each other publicly and how they are perfecting the art of name calling. Most recently of course with Donald Trump saying that “Hilary Clinton is the devil”. Not sure I would go so far as to say that out loud!
Now I am not an American so I do not get a vote. The many times I have been there I have always had a great time and found the people to be especially friendly. I have some really good friends there. Honestly though, the people of the USA have a really difficult decision to make this November.
On one hand you have Hilary who will probably keep things much the same way as they are now and continue with the legacy that Obama has created. On the other hand, you have Donald, who it seems, wants to come in and shake things up to make America great again.
The choice the people there have in effect is do you want change, or do you want to keep things the way they are? Better the devil you know becomes even more relevant with Donald’s statement last week.
The way I see it, and this is my opinion only, all the President’s over the last 30 years have done nothing apart from increase the size of the USA national debt, running now at nearly $20 Trillion. If the USA was a company or business, it would have been made bankrupt a long time ago!
How will either of these two nominees be able to reduce this debt?
Hilary Clinton is the wife of former President Clinton and the former First Lady. She has experience of Government as the former Secretary of State, and knows exactly how the Whitehouse functions. Donald Trump however is something the Whitehouse has never experienced. He has no experience of politics but is a very successful businessman, and to a large extent, that gives him political experience also as any businessman will tell you.
I suppose the one major difference is that Donald Trump has “allegedly” funded his own campaign. Unlike every other political campaign there has ever been he will not be influenced by the corporations who have contributed. Whereas Hilary of course will be influenced.
Like many people the world over, I am not a fan of politicians. For me the word “politician” is just a legalizing of corruption.
The result will inevitably come down to the votes of a few “swing” states. We are led to believe in Europe that most people don’t change parties that often in the USA so therefore the new voters and those who do alternate their vote are the ones both Donald and Hilary are targeting.
Donald Trump though is really causing a lot of raised eyebrows. There seems to be another internal campaign within the Republican party to get him ousted. My suspicion on this is that the large corporations are telling their pawns in congress to get him removed as they probably fear not having as much control over decisions as they want. Just a guess of course, but I fear not far from the truth.
Whichever way the American people vote one thing is for sure, history will be made.
Will it be the first woman President, or will it be the first President without any real political experience?
To build a wall or not to build, that is the question!

Trump represents change, sure... but that does not mean it's positive change. For instance, if I were sitting around really bored with my life one day and decided to burn down my house... I'd be homeless AND lose a great revenue stream (it's a two-family home, I rent the upstairs on AirBnB.)
You mention trump is a "successful businessman" but perhaps you aren't getting all the details here. He's had four bankruptcies, and at each one his business partners forced him out of any leadership role in those companies. He's gone on stage and talked about half a dozen businesses that fact checkers later found he did not own or had gone out of business.
You have heard correctly that many people stick with their own party, although new voters tend to stick with their parents' parties. That said, we're actually seeing some Republican leadership denounce Trump as well as voters.
Before you claim it's because he's "anti-establishment" we've actually had anti-establishment businessmen run before. Back in the early '90s when I was a kid Ross Perot ran as a third party candidate, and was in fact incredibly popular. among Democrats, Republicans AND independents! He probably would have one, except he bowed out of the race.
I know that Trump has been made bankrupt on many occasions. However there are other hugely successful business who have also suffered that fate. It doesn't take away from the fact that he is now a billionaire! I hope whomever you choose you get the right President to make a difference for the people there.
Again, it wasn't just that he declared bankruptcy. It's that his business partners forced him out during that bankruptcy. Would you force a CEO out if you thought he was doing a good job?
