Lulu Hashimoto is exactly what she looks like – a human doll. She looks like a doll but moves like a human. She is a human being who is fully clad in a doll costume, consisting of wig, mask, and stockings patterned with doll-like joints - was born from one woman’s desire to become cute.

According to her creator Hitomi Komaki, 23-year-old fashion designer, Lulu Hashimoto is the first ‘living doll model’ in the world. Lulu was born out of Komaki’s desire to create an “epitome of cuteness”.

Dressing up as a mascot, called “Kigurumi” in Japanese, is a popular art form in Japan. Komaki has taken it to a new level by creating a body suit that looks like a doll and lets you move like a human.
Lulu, though not yet a household name, has mesmerised tens of thousands of her fans in social media sites like Twitter and Instagram and who turn out on the streets of Japan in the hope of catching a glimpse of her.

According to Komaki, the creator, there is currently only one living-doll body suit in the world, but judgding by the success of Lulu and the appeal of doll-like appearances, it’s not preposterous to assume that a commercial versions of Lulu Hashimoto may soon be seen.

The stockings worn by Lulu were created by fellow fashion designer Koh Ueno, who airbrushes doll-like joints onto the material.
