RE: "DERP," Goes Southwest Virginia
I absolutely LOVE this: "So you can throw me to the wolves. Tomorrow I will come back leader of the whole pack."
Hell, yes.
I think there is some parallel between animal rescuers and police officers in that both groups are fully immersed in the dregs of society, all the time. We see the worst, because our job is cleaning up the messes made by the worst. Rescuers don't necessary get the criminal element, at least not the hardened criminal element, although that does come up. We get the apathy, the discompassion. The narcissists, and the emotionally broken. Because let's face it: the good folks don't abandon or abuse their animals. The only interaction we typically get with positive energy is from the furbabies themselves.
the way several of those delightful excuses of humans saying things about your age or sex or other digs should listen very , very fucking closely to some truths that WILL hit them
they can enjoy their sad lives spewing trash as that's what a lot are, too much Chlorine in the Gene Pool in some parts of the country ;)
Reading that gave me chills just now. The good kind.
It's funny how impervious I am to the personal insults. They don't register as anything more than words. It's the overall ignorance that crushes me, the lack of understanding of how everything in the world is connected. It's why the animals are abused and neglected here to begin with. Whatever the case, I'm deeply grateful to you for the kinds words you left here for me to find. :-)
