How do you know if your dog is into you? This is a question that has pooped out in many pet blogs and dog lover forums. While it is true that dogs press love and affection based on their breed, here are some facts about basic ways your dog expresses love and affection towards you and the people they love.

1. It is always happy when you’re home

Does your dog jump up and down, lick your hands and face, bring you its favourite toy or even "excited pee" a little bit when you get home from work, school, or errands? Yep, it's absolutely thrilling to see you! And, chances are, you're very excited to see your pup, too.

2. Always wants to sleep beside you in your bedroom

If you don't allow your dog to sleep in your bed, but it still likes to sleep in your bedroom, it really loves you. Why? Wanting to be close to you while you're sleeping signals that it's totally loyal and doesn't want to be separated from the pack.

(And if you're not going to allow it in the bed, why not invest in a super comfy dog bed?)

3. He/she uses body language to communicate with you

The New York Times reports that your dog’s body language is a clear sign he loves you. Most of us know some of the obvious body-language signs. Do your dog’s ears perk up when you walk in the room? Does he wriggle around excitedly when you open the front door? Or does his tail wag vigorously? That means he’s happy, as does a more recently discovered feature of dog body language. “When dogs feel fundamentally positive about something or someone, their tails wag more to the right side of their rumps,” according to the New York Times. “When they have negative feelings, their tail wagging is biased to the left.”

4. Wagging tails

Conventional wisdom tells us that a wagging tail is the mark of a happy dog, and iHeartDogs confirms that it's also a sign of affection toward a human. Relaxed dogs can more easily wag their tails, and dogs that are relaxed feel good about their owners. If a dog's muscles are stiff and their tail is still wagging, it could mean that he or she is annoyed or angry, so keep that in mind!

5. It Pees when it sees you

image.png

No, it's not a sign that its potty training is regressing. Dogs, especially puppies, may pee a little bit when they get excited. Referred to as submissive urination, this little accident is actually a compliment. It means your dog knows you're in charge!

6. Sharing their toys with you

You may have no interest in your dog's tattered tennis ball, but their willingness to share it with you is a sign of true affection.

"If your dog really loves you, they will often bring their favourite toy. This is their way of sharing their stuff with you and showing they care," said Ochoa.

7. He spends more time with you

Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson writes in the book, Dogs Never Lie About Love, that “once a dog loves you, he loves you always, no matter what you do, no matter

what happens, no matter how much time goes by.” Humans and dogs can, on a basic level, understand each other’s emotional responses. And dogs like to spend time with humans, in Masson’s assessment, “because dogs love us.”

8. He/she smiles at you often

image.png

Nope, this is not imagination! It is a fact! Some dogs actually learn how to "smile" by pulling their lips back to reveal a big, wide, toothy grin. Reciprocating with a big smile and happy voice will show your dog you love it, too.

He/she bonds with you

Humans’ brains release a hormone called oxytocin, frequently referred to as “the love hormone,” during agreeable human reactions. Your brain releases oxytocin when you see someone you love when you interact with a friend, or even when a stranger is kind to you. The hormone helps us bond with and care about others. And, interestingly enough, recent research by a Claremont Graduate University researcher Paul Zak reports for The Atlantic that dogs’ brains release oxytocin, too

According to Paul, animals of different species induce oxytocin release in each other suggests that they, like us, maybe capable of love,
