My Dogman Encounter

What's a Dogman? It's a creature that stands on two feet like a man but has a head of a canine.

Date: November 2013 Time: 2AM
Location: Donner Pass @ Sierra Nevada Mountains

I rented a car to visit my family for Thanksgiving travelling from Chico, California towards Las Vegas, Nevada. I was passing thru Donner Pass high in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in pitch darkness. Although there were homes scattered along the highway: I didn't spot a single soul or pet with one exception!

I had my high beams on as I passed a very large grayish wolf probably feeding on a dead carcass on the side of the road. The creature was massive & clearly not a dog. I've never witnessed a wolf in person although I have seen them on the National Geographic channel.

I was so excited that I couldn't wait to share my sighting with my family when I arrived to Vegas!

After doing further research about my wolf sighting on the Internet: I learned that there are no longer any wolf-packs that exist in California. The gray wolf species was eradicated during the 1920's by ranchers protecting their livestock.

So if it wasn't a gray wolf - what did I see on the side of the highway road on that cold, dark night?

Like I mentioned before - I'm certain that it wasn't a pet dog that I spotted menacingly glaring at me. And I didn't care to stop to investigate...who could blame me? Am I right?

Although this creature wasn't standing on its two hind feet like a typical Dogman - I still felt that it was worth mentioning.
